Chase - Marriott Rewards Visa Signature Card

Marriott Visa is great

5

I signed up for the Marriott Visa card about a year ago when I was planning a trip to Hawaii. At the time, Chase and Marriott were offering a large incentive for signing up for and using the card. If you spent a certain amount of money on the card, in the first three months then you were able to get a large point bonus. I switched to this card and quickly saw the rewards add up. Just for using the card in the first three months, I earned three free nights. Also, each year you are a member you are credited a free hotel night stay at select Marriott brand hotels. I used that last summer to take my family on a trip to the beach. There is a yearly fee associated with the card, however, it was waived for the first year. I have been very happy with this card and its benefits.

Never Using my Marriott Rewards Card Again

1

I used this card for all of my purchases every month because I enjoyed the Marriott Rewards points. I also pay my balance in full every month. Last month, I learned the the website for online payment only allows you to make one payment per day per account. As I was paying from 2 accounts, the remaining balance payment was not posted until the next day. When interest charges showed up, I called and the rep said no problem and reversed the charges. But the next month, though payment was made on time, more interest charges showed up and they said they would not reverse them, even after speaking with a manager. Ironically, while on hold I heard over and over again the recorded message about how they appreciate my business. There are tons of banks who would love to have my business and won't try to screw me for a few bucks that was caused by their limitations. I will never support this company again based on their lack of basic customer service and integrity.

Hello Marriott Rewards

4

I am so thankful that my husband and I switched our airline milage earning card to the Marriott Rewards Visa Signature card. Not only is this card basically accepted everywhere, thanks to Visa's world wide network, but with the rising price of quality hotel costs, I love having the ability to earn a free hotel stay. Marriott offers hotels and resorts in hundreds of countries and basically every major city worldwide. Milage cards are so overrated today with the emergence of kayak.com and other discount airline websites. Customer Service I have yet to experience a customer service issue while I have been using the Marriott Rewards Visa Signature card. Available Rates The current interest rates available for the Marriott Rewards Visa Signature card are comparable to other major earning credit cards on the market today. It was actually slightly lower than my previous airline milage earning credit card.

Stay far away from this card!

This card is a Marriott rewards card (so one would most likely assume that the card holder travels to different Marriott locations and stays there). HOWEVER - the fraud department will put a block on your card (especially at Marriott hotels) any time you're in a different city. So you're supposed to call and notify the company EVERY time you travel. I live in NY and travel outside of NY every week. They can't raise this security issue like American Express and do other fraud monitoring. They also have blocked my card for a $5.64 charge at CVS (in NY) because it was my first time shopping at this vendor. If you have money and good credit and travel - this is the epoitomy of the WORST card on the market. I have 4 American Express cards - corp, SPG, Hilton and Delta and they're all perfectly working, high credit limits, easy use, NEVER get declined (American Express will do preventive fraud calls or make fraud inquiries without blocking your card) and earn faster. ALSO - You receive a free elite night stay after $3000 but they don't tell you about it until its expiring and it's only for category 1-4 hotels (non existant in NY). You can't gift or extend the dates on this night either. So essentially you lose it. And that's due to the fact that it's not able to be booked online and the call center is only open for limited hours during the week. This card is BOGUS! Customer Service They never answer your questions - they're just robotically polite without really listening to what you're saying - they just NEED to go through their script and good luck getting a supervisor on the phone. They also will transfer you to the wrong department 4-5 times and make you wait 2-5 minutes between each of these transfers then they don't explain your situation so you repeat the same story a million times. They also misinform you with each person you speak with - ESPECIALLY with who you open the card with - BEWARE!

For travelers this is the perfect card!

We absolutely love this card. It enables us to travel in style. We already loved the Marriott brand and all they stand for and this just took it one notch up. With this card you are given five times the points for your hotel stays and anything related to the hotel. You also get your original points as well. You get 2 times the points for dining, rental cars, and airlines. Really for the avid traveler you can't go wrong. Also when you flash this card at the hotel you are treated very respectfully. It seems that since I have been using this card, my Marriott experience has improved even more! We just went to NYC where hotels in times square are around 400 a night and three of our four nights were free because of this card. It is just awesome!

Would be Five Stars if it didn't have an annual fee

The Marriott Reward Visa card, issued by Chase is one of my favorites. I enjoy staying FREE at Marriott hotels, just beacuse I use their credit card to earn points. The only negative associated with this card is the annual fee (which gets waived for the first year). I highly recommend this card.

Marriott discriminates

1

Marriott Hotels, through their affiliation with the Mormon Church, provided millions of dollars to take away a civil right of many California citizens.  Their financing Prop 8 shows their support for discriminating against gay Americans.  Please support the national campaign to boycott Marriott Hotels.

Benefits worth more than the fee

4

Visa Signature cards already have a wide variety of benefits; car rental insurance, warranty protection plans, higher credit limits, etc. but these come with every Visa Signature card. What sets the Chase - Marriott Premier Visa Signature apart is two things; higher earnings in selected areas, and an annual free night (which usually more than makes up for the annual $65 fee). When you use the card to pay for dining, car rentals, or airline tickets, you earn double Marriott points (which can be redeemed for rooms, converted to miles [not a great conversion rate], or used to get room/mile packages [good conversion rate, almost 1:1, but remember you may have earned them at a 2:1 rate!]).On acceptance, you'l get a cert good for a free night at any Marriott class1-4 hotel. On your card's anniversary, you'll get a cert good for a free night at any Marriott class 1-5 hotel. Carefully used, these can be really valuable. Our last use was to get a free night in Paris, France, where the rate would have been >200 euros a night, or about $320 after currency conversion, a fantastic bargain in exchange for the $65 annual fee!The card also gets you Silver Elite status in Marriott's program, a nice perk on occasion.By carefully making this one of the cards in your wallet and using it selectively, you can maximize your miles/points earning potential.
