Handy card, especially when traveling long distances

5

I have a great deal of respect for the Chase brand and the pairing of the two brands is an excellent merger. I use this card for long distance traveling. I have found that since I have been using this card, I have actually been driving more and more because of the pluses associated with the use of the card and because it is a gas card. Customer Service Simply excellent customer service department. They are very good at what they do and they know exactly how to handle every question and every concern whenever you call them for assistance. They are also very caring and willing to go the extra mile for customers no matter when you contact them. Available Rates This card offers a very good rate from beginning and throughout the duration of the time you have the card. They also give very frequent increases to your credit limit. If you do have to pay an interest rate it is no higher than 13 percent.

Rewards are not worth the interest.

My parents had this card and got me one of their account a few years ago. After using the card for a year, I realized that the rewards are not worth the interest paid. You get rewards on gas at BP when you use this card. However, to build up reward points, you have to purchase things on the card. If you pay the card off in full each month, this card would be beneficial. However, my account was not paid off in full each month and it end up costing me money. The rewards you get are not worth the interest you pay on purchases. I would not recommend using this card unless you are able to pay it off in full after each use. Customer Service I have never had a problem with customer service with this company. Available Rates The interest rate on this card is high. Therefore, if you do no pay it off in full, you will be losing money. They promote the rewards but they are not worth it in the end. I would not recommend using this card because the interest rates are very high.

Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time

2

So I thought I wanted a new credit card. I wanted a card that would help my credit but one that was also useful to me. I decided on the Chase BP Visa Gas card. At the time, it seemed like a good idea with the gas prices being so expensive and all. I thought that I would just charge a few dollars worth of gas maybe at the end of the week when I am running low on money. I quickly found out that I had made a mistake and those few dollars turned into a lot of dollars. The interest rate on this card is outrageous and a total rip off. I quickly decided to pay the card off and close my account and that time, they tried to charge me a penalty fee for closing it. After rounds and rounds about the fee, it was dropped and the account was closed. I would never suggest this gas card to anyone. There are so many more out there that unlike the Chase BP Visa gas card, are well worth it with a lot better rates and customer service.

The Chase BP card is a great card if you pay in full each month.

I got this card because BP gasoline is what my car runs best on, and it offers a5% rebate for BP gas purchases.  With gas prices as high as they are I need to save every penny I can at the pump. The card offers a 2% rebate for travel and dining, and 1% for other purchases.  When I reach $25 in rebates I can either request a check or a BP gas card.  I let them accumulate until November and use the cash for Christmas shopping.  I have never had any problem with this card.  My payments post in a timely manner and on the rare occasions when I did have a question it was dealt with promptly and courteously.  The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that the interest rate is fairly high, which doesn't impact me since I never pay interest. I pay my entire balance in full and on time every month.  Under the new law credit card companies can't charge overlimit fees unless I authorize them.  There is no annual fee, so every rebate amount I get is like free cash for me.  Customer Service I haven't had any issues with their customer service. They have changed their reward policy as of March 2012. I can no longer get a rewards check. My options are to receive a reduced per gallon price on one tankful of gas or have the rewards applied against my balance for the month. I prefer the rewards check but can live with money applied against my monthly bill. Available Rates I pay my bill in full each month so the interest rate doesn't concern me. They certainly are raking in a great deal of money from customers who pay less than their full balance.

Check the details on your Chase/BP card statement - 324.76%.

We have paid in full the balance of our Chase/BP card every month for years. I must confess to not really paying much attention to it. I just looked at the balance and paid it. A few months ago my wife noticed finance charges. Upon inquiry we got the reply, "Yes you have been paying the balance, the finance charges are just part of how the card works." That was three cycles ago, and we closed the account immediately. Last month the bill was $17.00. OK, a few transactions fell into the next cycle. *This* month we got a bill for $2.00 under Finance Charges. Here is the real kicker: Daily Rate = .07463%, Cooresp. APR = 27.24%, Effective Annual Percentage Rate = **324.76%** (three hundred twenty four point seventy six per cent - just in case you thought there was a typo) Underneath that the statement explains: The Effective APR represents your total finance charges - including transaction fees such as cash advance and balance transfer fees - expressed as a percentage. We have never taken a cash advance, never transferred in a balance. We used this card exclusively for gas at BP stations. I am sure glad my wife paid closer attention than I did.

Chase BP Gas card gives you 5% on their purchases, saves a lot of

Since I got this card I have saved quite a bit of money.   They started by giving 10% back for the first ninety days. Then they give 5% back on all purchases at the station.  I have gotted back quite a bit of money and it doesn't seem  that the cost of gas is that high.  You also get a percentage back on all othe gas purchases.  I rate this card a 4 star.

They do NOT care about their customers!

1

With 2 savings, 2 checking accounts, 3 credit cards and my student loan from them, they lowered limits without my knowledge and then cancelled 1 card with a letter that was 3 weeks late from when they cancelled it. 2 months later cancelled the other 2 with NO warning at all. Never late on any accounts with this company, NEVER over drawn any banking accounts. If this is how they treat their customers that havent done a thing to deserve this treatment, then I say to heck with this company! I am consolidating my loan elsewhere and closing ALL of my banking accounts as we speak! This company can kiss my behind!

Love my BP gas card

4

I love my Chase BP Visa Card.  I save 5 percent on gas purchases which I love and it adds up very fast.  I also like the online feature that lets me look at my billing on line and get my rewards points as well.  Makes it very easy for me to keep up with my spending report.  I have had no problems at all in dealing with Chase BP and would recommend this card to anyone.  I also think that the 5% you get back on gas is the highest payout going right now, so that really rocks. I find the interest rate, which can go as high as 22% kind of a rip off, but I try to pay off my card in full each and every month so that doesn't bother me to much.  Over all I have been very happy with using the BP chas Visa card.  I only wish they would give you 5% back if you buy gas at other places instead of BP, as sometimes when you are out in the sticks, you don't have a bp gas station you can use.  But overall, I love my card.

Good card if you pay it off each month

4

I have had the Chase BP Visa card for 4 years.  It began as a way to earn extra money because I need to travel many miles each day for work.  With a 5% cashback bonus on all BP gas purchases (and 10% for the the first month), the savings do add up very quickly. You also receive a 1% cashback bonus on all other purchases.  As with all credit cards, as long as you do not allow the balance to add up and accumulate without paying it off each month it is a great, easy way to save money on something that you would purchase on a dialy basis anyways.  For BP Gasoline, it has certainly don't what they intented by making me search out BP Gas stations when I need to fill up.  Fortunatly for me, there are a multitude of those around my home and in my travelling area and their normal prices are very competitive with other gas stations that I normally pass. I would recommend this card to anyone that uses a credit card to purchase gasoline.

This visa card helps saves on gas.

I have the Chase BP visa card. This credit card is so handy and it actually makes gas prices even lower! When I first signed up I got 10% off the dollar per gallon for the first three months, and when gas prices went super high-close to $4.00 a gallon, it helped out my gas expenses.(Example:At $4.00 a gallan the rebate took  0.40 cents off each gallon I filled up with, which is about 12 gallons for my car, which equals $4.80 I got back for the rebate )  After the three month period, it goes down to 5% off the dollar per gallon, which still adds up and saves you money! Once you hit $25.00 in the rebate, you can choose what you want to do with it. I always choose a cash back! I also get 1-2% off on other purchases elsewhere, but you save more money when you go to any BP Gas store. I love this card, and will always use it to pay for gas!
