Charter Communications Review Summary
Charter Communications is a popular name in communication services with phone, high speed internet, cable, and other service offerings. Some reviewers like Charter Communications online and they point out the speed, free long distance, and low price as some of the perks. However, the majority of users feel Charter Communications is not up to par and typical comments include: “I’d Rather be on Dialup than Pay for Charter’s Lack of Service”. Charter Communications also experiences frequent internet outages and these reasons lead the majority of users to rank Charter Communications among the less desirable
Web Services available.

Charter Communications is by and far the WORST company I've ever had to deal with, period. Living in a small town in SC, we were limited to either 56k dial up, or Charter "high speed" cable, when they finally started offering it. I signed up as soon as it became available. This is when the problems started. The initial sales person I talked to, told me that in order to get the high speed connection, I also had to have Charter cable tv. I found out afterwards from calling again and asking a supervisor why this was necessary, he informed me that this was not the case and scheduled me to be…

I have had nothing but trouble with internet since moving here in February. If you can get cable or internet elsewhere, do it. In the past they've messed up my bill and sent it to collections even though they had cashed the check. I had the check in hand to prove it. They wanted me to leave it with them and they'd take care of it. I told them I wanted it fixed well I stood there and waited and a letter showing me it was fixed. They did finally do that. — — Then we moved here to NC and my internet goes down seeral times a month and trying to get through to someone has been a…

I have not had any problems with Charter Internet service (knock on wood!) but the phone service on the other hand has not been so good. Sometimes I have to dial 5-6 times to get through to someone because the call won't connect. Other times my phone just goes right to my voice mail without ringing in the house so I don't even know someone is calling. The price can't be beat but you truly do get what you pay for. The overseas call center also makes things extremely difficult. When I first set up my service it took 2 hours on the phone and the order STILL wasn't…

When you try to contact this company, you may be connected to India or Virginia. If you call right back, it will be a new place. The local office is worthless. You are unable to get answers from them. The company is so incompetent. They have no one to contact and get anything resolved.... just constant customer service that does not communicate as a whole. They are the only high speed internet we can get at our current location. I can not express my disgust for this…

Read the fine print. Most promotional rates go up drastically after the year long term. For instance, the cost of my high speed 5-meg connection is 14.99/month for 12 months, then goes up to 54.99/month after that. This price disparity is reason alone to switch to DSL services after your term is over. — — I recommend this service to any first time apartment renter, because once your lease is up you can cancel Charter to avoid their high fees. This is a temporary high speed…

Charter internet in our area has actually improved greatly. Having had it for 3 years now, service uptime is great, speed is great. The only time I had to talk with Customer Service, was bad. Long hold time and took a long time to resolve issue. Besides that, the price is great and they offer 3 different speeds. The rates are much better than the other "high speed" carriers. Would recommend for home…

I have been a customer with charter for about 12 years. If I could find another cable company, I would switch right away. We have call to report an outage, and they don't even make a note of you calling. They want to charge extra for everything. Every month it seems our bill keeps going up. I wish another cable company would give them some competition, then maybe we could get some better…

I don't know where to begin. Charter is the only cable service provider in our area, and while TV and internet are not necessities, they certainly make life more bearable. We signed up to bundle our services--phone, internet, and extended cable for $60 a month. Great deal, right? Too good to be true. The serviceman who showed up to install it wasn't wearing a uniform or name badge and showed up in his own vehicle. When I asked him to show some identification, he acted like I was a moron for asking, then unzipped his sweatshirt and showed me the Charter logo…
