I don't know where to begin. Charter is the only cable service provider in our area, and while TV and internet are not necessities, they certainly make life more bearable. We signed up to bundle our services--phone, internet, and extended cable for $60 a month. Great deal, right? Too good to be true. The serviceman who showed up to install it wasn't wearing a uniform or name badge and showed up in his own vehicle. When I asked him to show some identification, he acted like I was a moron for asking, then unzipped his sweatshirt and showed me the Charter logo on his shirt underneath. For 4 days afterward, our phone service got worse and worse, till on the 4th day we had none. Their live chat is useless--I told them I wasn't even picking up a dial tone, and they told me to dial their 800 number. With what, I don't have a cellphone! The livechat support guy told me to go to a local business and use a payphone. And of course, later that weekend there was an emergency where I had to call 911. The neighbors had to do it for me.
I have had their operators hang up on me, and believe me, I have not been rude or unreasonable. I was in tears once and the nicest thing they did was take 5 days charge off my bill. Which was pretty nice, I guess.
They forgot to charge me for three months thereafter, then dropped a $240 bill on me last month, which ended up overdrafting my bank account.
This is a horrible, horrible company. Something has to be done.
