Most HelpfulI told myself before I wrote this that I would not use any bad words in describing my former television service provider. Actually, I think I used every foul word possible while on the phone or online with Charter during the past 10 plus years, so perhaps I have exhausted them sufficiently to not add...
review »Charter is the only service available in our area and locally, they tend to treat you that way. Once when we called for service, they didn't show up for 2 appointments and I ended up carrying the box to the office and getting it replaced myself. We disconnected and reconnected ourselves. When this occurred, we were billed and we have auto-debit so they took it out with the next bill. We fought it out with them for 4 months, they said they would credit the next bill each month and it never happened. We finally gave up because each time I spent 30 to 40 minutes on the phone, my...

If we had any other choice, we would NEVER use Charter. But unfortunately, much the like the downside of all telecommunications companies, Charter has a monopoly since they are the only ISP in the area.
Charter seems to work using Chaos theory, in that if a butterfly flaps its wings in China, our cable goes out. We pay 125.00/month for cable television and cable internet, and at any given time, our digital cable box stops receiving. Do they reimburse us for all the time our cable is out? NO! Because they say there is nothing they can do about it.
So when we finally decided to cancel...

It never ceases to amaze me how much these cable companies charge for TV service. Only twice in my life have I ordered cable. Both times I switched back to FREE over-the-air TV. This last time took a new innovation - DTV.
When I first moved into this apartment about 3 years ago, the landlord would not allow an outdoor antenna on the roof. And an inside antenna got next to nothing. I was stuck either going with Charter Cable or a dish of some kind.
They "claim" no disruption in TV service during storms. That's a joke. Sometimes it would go out for just a few minutes...sometimes for...
review »I have Charter Digital Cable service because it is the only cable provider in my area, and my husband and I did not want satellite tv. I hate the fact that they have a monopoly over us because they use that fact to their full advantage! They absolutely do not keep service appointments on time and their prices are pretty high. Don't use them if you have another alternative!

Well, when I first moved into this area, I got cable through Charter. I called them and made appointments with them twice before they finally showed up, for one. Then when they did, they sent someone who didn't know what they were doing because it took him over 2 hours to install it.....and then something went wrong and I couldn't watch TV for almost 2 weeks, but I sure paid for it! When it finally got fixed, then they kept raising prices on me. I could never get any help when I needed it or get my questions answered about my bill. Then pay-per-view movie charges started showing up on my bill...which...

Charter's High Definition service is terrible. First of all, when we called to have our HD service set up, we were told it would only cost us $10 more a month. However, when the bill came, it was more like $20. Second, whenever we watch something in HD, the picture breaks up and or blacks out completely. Not to mention, the selection for HD channels is horrific. You get a few local channels, two ESPN channels, three movie channels, and some channels that no one really wants in HD anyways, like the Weather Channel. By the way, if you don't get their movie package, then you also don't get those three...
