Way too Overpriced
Even though I don't have any allergies to laundry detergents, I still like to try out organic laundry detergents every now-and-then, and when I received a sample of **Charlie's Soap Laundry Liquid** I was excited, and nervous, all at the same time. The laundry liquid usually comes in a large, 1 US Gallon size plastic container with a screw cap. The company provides you with a squirt nozzle, but I prefer using old detergent caps and scoops for more precise measurements (even an old, plastic measuring cup from your kitchen you don't use anymore will work, too). The liquid itself is a clear fluid, not as thick as most detergents but with a passable consistency that I know will work in the wash. Even though **Charlie's Soap** does not add fragrance to their laundry, it has a nice, 'clean' sort of aroma that I really enjoy - it doesn't smell strongly of petrol or gasoline, like many other 'free' detergents can. My real quibble with this liquid is the fact the company wants *way* too much for this product, and while it cleans pretty well, I wouldn't say its perfect, for any better than other 'green' laundry products/detergents available. In fact, it isn't the most gentle on blacks and grays, and doesn't really give my colors that vivacious brightness that other detergents can. The liquid is powerful, but it doesn't seem to last very long, even if you use small, sparing amounts - it went a bit too quickly in my opinion. This liquid I recommend for use on lightly soiled loads, or strictly for hand-washing - it is non-irritating, and seems to really work well this way versus using in the washing machine. It isn't the best stain lifter, and I suggest using a touch of bleach or hydrogen peroxide to help this liquid out removing stains and completely erasing odors, especially sweat and traces of perfume. However, as an all-around, general, everyday-laundry kind of liquid, this will clean just as well as any name brand detergent, but it isn't the best-of-the-best, and I'm still a big fan of **Method's** amazing laundry products, and plan on purchasing them again in the near future. And, if it weren't for the hefty price-tag, I might buy this again in the future, but, until they lower the price, give a sale, etc., I probably won't buy this for a while.
