Way too Overpriced

Even though I don't have any allergies to laundry detergents, I still like to try out organic laundry detergents every now-and-then, and when I received a sample of **Charlie's Soap Laundry Liquid** I was excited, and nervous, all at the same time. The laundry liquid usually comes in a large, 1 US Gallon size plastic container with a screw cap. The company provides you with a squirt nozzle, but I prefer using old detergent caps and scoops for more precise measurements (even an old, plastic measuring cup from your kitchen you don't use anymore will work, too). The liquid itself is a clear fluid, not as thick as most detergents but with a passable consistency that I know will work in the wash. Even though **Charlie's Soap** does not add fragrance to their laundry, it has a nice, 'clean' sort of aroma that I really enjoy - it doesn't smell strongly of petrol or gasoline, like many other 'free' detergents can. My real quibble with this liquid is the fact the company wants *way* too much for this product, and while it cleans pretty well, I wouldn't say its perfect, for any better than other 'green' laundry products/detergents available. In fact, it isn't the most gentle on blacks and grays, and doesn't really give my colors that vivacious brightness that other detergents can. The liquid is powerful, but it doesn't seem to last very long, even if you use small, sparing amounts - it went a bit too quickly in my opinion. This liquid I recommend for use on lightly soiled loads, or strictly for hand-washing - it is non-irritating, and seems to really work well this way versus using in the washing machine. It isn't the best stain lifter, and I suggest using a touch of bleach or hydrogen peroxide to help this liquid out removing stains and completely erasing odors, especially sweat and traces of perfume. However, as an all-around, general, everyday-laundry kind of liquid, this will clean just as well as any name brand detergent, but it isn't the best-of-the-best, and I'm still a big fan of **Method's** amazing laundry products, and plan on purchasing them again in the near future. And, if it weren't for the hefty price-tag, I might buy this again in the future, but, until they lower the price, give a sale, etc., I probably won't buy this for a while.

Charlie's Soap is an amazing product!

I have sensitive skin and for some reason I'll develop a rash from laundry detergent some of the time. It isn't an everyday occurrence but it would happen on occasion. A friend of mine told me about Charlie's soap. I checked out their website & I wasn't totally convinced. The prices were a little high in my opinion so I wasn't sure I was willing to spend so much on a product I wasn't sure would work. So my friend gave me enough of her Charlie's laundry soap to wash a load of my laundry three times. That's what the company suggests you do to get the old detergent out of your clothes. I did that and couldn't beleive the results. My clothes looked clean and they were much softer than with my old laundry soap. I didn't even need to use fabric softener. And the best part is that this soap is safe, non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and biodegradable. I haven't broken out in a rash since I started using it! And even though it cost more to buy Charlie's soap because it comes in large quantities it's actually cheaper in the long run.

A Charlie's Soap customer for life!

I love Charlie's Soap liquid laundry detergent for a variety of reasons! First, it's safe, non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and biodegradable.  I can feel good about washing my family's laundry in something that is not going to irritate sensitive skin or leave strong, perfumy smells in all of our things - the laundry comes out of the dryer soft and with a smell that can't be beat - one of just pure "clean!" It leaves no residue - it rinses cleanly away.  Their customer service cannot be beaten.  When we were having problems with very hard water, I was able to easily and often reach someone at Charlie's Soap for guidance and knowledgable advice on how to proceed.  When I was having trouble with getting our cloth diapers sanitized, again, Charlie's Soap customer service was there to walk me through, step by step, on how to get them throughly cleaned.  It is very affordable, and you only have to use a tablespoon to get a whole load clean.  I have no complaints at all about Charlie's and will be a satisfied, loyal customer for life! Highly recommend this.

Best Laundry Soap I have used

5

I started using Charlie's Soap Liquid Laundry Soap a year and a half ago when I was having problems with detergents and my cloth diapers.  This soap was recommended by someone else who did cloth diapering so I thought I would try it.  I have not regretted it.  I started just using it for my baby's cloth diapers but now I use it for all my laundry First of all, I love that it is safe, non toxic and biodegradable.  I can use it on everything from my fine linens to the dirtiest work clothes that my husband gives me.  It doesn't have any strong smells, but it gets my clothing clean. I ordered 2 gallons and they lasted me over a year.  You only have to use 1 1/2 Tablespoons per load.  That beats a cup full like other brands.  It comes with a convenient pump system so I can just pump it right into the laundry tub or use my little tablespoon to measure it.  No more trying to figure out what to do with that soapy cup that comes on the end of most other detergents.  It seems like an investment in the beginning to buy two gallons (which gets you free shipping), but when it lasts a year it is well worth it!
