Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - 2005 Review

Ugh! This movie was horrible. From the rapping Oompah-Loompahs, to Johnny Depp's idiotic portrayal of Willie Wonka, this movie was a real disappointment. Sure, it may have had some cool special effects, but it can't make up for the rest of the show. The whole thing was miscast - who really cares about any of these people? We're supposed to at least care about little Charlie Bucket and his family, but the performances were so flat, it was hard to do so.

I had to apologize to my children for making them watch this. We turned on the original with Gene Wilder and are currently reading the book together. Anything to get that bad movie out of our minds!
