How delightfully crazed are we humans about low-calorie treats?
Not as delightfully crazed as the dogs who are rewarded (or spoiled) with Charlee Bear Dog Treats. Whether the liver flavor, cheese and egg variety, or -- brand new! -- the turkey liver and cranberry, Dolce and Shelby and all the dogs we know greedily gobble these small, three-calorie nuggets of flavor.
Takes no effort to impress your pooch with these homely little things!  Wheat flour is the first ingredient followed by the name ingredient, salt (1 T. per 100 lbs), garlic powder in all, and some brewers yeast in the cheese and egg flavor.  There's a minimum of 18-20% crude protein, 3% crude fat (8% in the cheese and egg), 5% crude fiber, and a maximum of 10% moisture in each bear.
Charlees are not greasy and won't stain your pockets or hands.  They have been invaluable in our training of adopted 8-year-olds who had next to no training when they arrived.  Even Shelby, a type-A terrier/greyhound/shepherd mix will sit and stay if she knows we have Charlee Bears.  When she lapses, we can "spend" a lot of Bears without contributing to diet delinquency.
It takes a dozen Charlee Bears, in fact, to equal a medium dog bone (roughly 35 calories).  If your pooch gets big dog bone treats (100 calories each) and has a weight problem, Charlee Bears are a successful and smart alternative.
The folks who make Charlee Bears are really committed to both dog health and the use of low-calorie treats for training.  Check their site (charleebear.com) and you'll find that this Wisconsin company has "positive reinforcement" trainer consultants, training suggestions for all of us, a modest list of trainers, and a cute logo T-shirt and cap priced at a pittance.
WORTHY OF NOTE:  Charlee Bears are made and sourced in the U.S.  They have not been subject to recall as so many foreign-sourced products have.
We usually get our Charlees in the 16 oz zip bag at Trader Joe's or Petco.  They also come in 6 oz packs or a 17 oz cannister -- all at very reasonable prices.
Most stores seem unreliable because this product is snapped up so fast by dog owners.  There are many good online sources.
     Good dog!  Good stuff!

You can feed them to your doggies as occasional special treats, they are like Oreo cookies but made with carob instead of chocolate. The dogs around here love them. They are from Three Dog Bakery. If all else fails, I can vouch for these that they taste good enough for humans too.

Good dogs but bad Illinois cousins. I hate to say it but I've wrapped up a box of LICK and CRUNCH for your doggies and they willbe coming your way in a couple of days!
