I just purchased this infrared grill and the three temperature gauges are a complete JOKE! When one of the gauges is on low, it still continues to read at seven hundred degrees while the other two gauges continue to read six hundred degrees. It makes cooking at a constant three hundred twenty five degrees extremely complicated and makes it guess work.

This is by far the best grill i ever invested in. Performance With this grill and the infrared cooking meats come out cooked perfect they are so juicy and flavorful. The infrared seals all the juices in. I love this grill. Versatility You can use the side burner for heating in pans while cooking on the grill, it also has a top rack for heating rolls or keeping foods hot while cooking. Ease of Use Very easy to use after you discover how it cooks and how you like your foods cooked. Ease of Cleaning It has a self cleaning feature that burn off the grates that falls into deep cast iron wells that come out to be cleaned, though i was told to put them in the dishwasher i never have. I would worry about the grease clogging it up. So i just use good hot soapy water and a brillo pad. Durability This grill is extremely heavy and made very well, I've had mine for about 4 years and it's still like new. Design Very good design and it's stylish. I would recommend this grill and buy it again.

My disclaimer is that I am not a massively professional griller. But I do end up grilling weekly in the summer, and a couple times a month in the winter. That being said, I have never enjoyed grilling as much as with the Charbroil Red. The infrared heating system completely eliminates flare-ups, for starters. Additionally, it enables the temperature to reach 5-600 degrees and above relatively quickly. This becomes ideal for searing steaks and especially chicken. For those who are novice grillers, the ability to sear a piece of meat (forming sort of a "crust" on the outside) seals the natural juices inside. The indirect heating then cooks the inside at a much more controllable rate at reduced heat. It is well-constructed, has good appearance and is very efficient in gas usage. My one complaint - and it might be due simply to my inexperience - is that it is sometimes difficult to reduce the heat after searing enough to control the cooking process. but I would consider that "operator error" as much as anything else.
