Although there is evidence Chaos could have been an above average medium budget action film, this winds up being another run of the mill time waster. Jason Statham, Wesley Sniped and Ryah Phillippe attempt to add some class to the cliches but it's all in vain.
This is one of those action movies where while action packed, there's little you haven't seen in dozens of other direct to video/cable action fllicks. Wesley Snipes delivers a high enery bad-ass bad guy performance, while Jason Statham plays his tough guy maverick variation of Dirty Harry with some genuine passion, but there's no originality to the story, no wit to the script and little pizzaz to the action sequences.
It's one of those action movies that expects you to not think too much about what your watching but adds some details that expect you to pay close attention. Of course if you pay attention to a movie like this you realize how utterly ridiculous and unrealistic it really is. If you enjoy good movies you'll be frustrated how at times they almost seem to be making a movie worth watching.
Snipes and a team of well trained bad guys take over a bank, but an employee pushes the silent alarm and a hostage situation develops necessitating the police department to use a conroversial maverick cop played by Statham. There's the more by the book good cop, Ryan and a pair of good looking female cops as well.
Naturally Snipes gets away and is pursued in a series of uninspiring confrontations until a final show-down ends the movie.
It's not an awful film, but with dozens of better action time-wasters out there unless your a die-hard Statham and Snipes fan, skip this one.
