Quick View: It was a happy day for me when sports bras came in both traditional and long tank styling. I love the idea of wearing a tank sports bra to work out in. I don't always feel comfortable working out in just a short sports bra so I had to layer until the tank styles came out. Now, those who are even more modest have another choice! An empire waist, non clingy tank sports bra that looks as good for casual wear as for exercise.

About the Champion Powerlite Seamless Empire Tech Tank

This sports bra is one of the very newest in Champion's line up. It is for medium impact sports so, if you bounce and run hard, this one may not give you the support you need. Most sports and exercise are medium impact. This long top features silky, stretchy fabric, a two layer built in bra (No show through), and a racer back. What sets this apart from other sports bras and tanks is that it has empire waist styling which means the bust is fitted but from there down, the rest is loser and A-line. There is no stretchy fabric clinging to every dimple and roll (Come on, we all have some of those even the thinnest of us!) and the tank can be worn for causal wear as well as exercise.

I bought one in India Ink, which is blue. They have pink and black as well. I didn't know if I would like the fact that this sports tank wasn't clingy. I thought the fabric would get in the way but it doesn't at all. I wear it when I do walking or dance workouts and not only does it control bounce, it looks adorable. It doesn't bind me or make me feel suffocated either. The support is good but not tight or too compressing.

Champion says:

90% nylon/19% spandex. Tag-free. Perfect in or out of the gym, layered or on its own. Specially knit for added coverage in front, to help block embarrassing show-through. Made in USA.

This is a great choice for anyone who likes style and wants a bit of modesty when working out. It is a great street tank and also supports small and medium busts well during normal exercise. It supports busts up to 40C so larger busted women will have to settle for a different style until Champion extends its sizes, which they really should do.

I like my new sports bra and, now that there is a sale on all sports bras at ChampionCatalog.com ($19.99 for any of them!), I am going to buy the black one.

My Viewpoint

This is a different concept in sports bra and long overdue. Work out at the gym without feeling like every extra ounce is showing to the world. This empire waisted sports tank is really a great alternative to other sports bras and it controls bounce comfortably and well. I still prefer the Shape series of Champion sports bras over any other but this is a solid 5 star tank sports bra that really serves a purpose and does so in a flattering way.
