Moisturized skin--at last!

loving this product, willing to pay for quality, a busy person
Pros

eliminate dry skin, sensitive skin friendly, intense moisture, fragrance free

My mother has intensely dry skin; my father has intensely dry skin.  What does this mean for me?  Yup, you guessed it: cursed with dry, dry, dry skin!

About his product

Cetaphil's moisturizing cream is a no-bells and no-whistles moisturizer.  But, unlike many lotions and creams, it actually works!  It is thick and luxurious, and scent-free.  I apply it once a day in warmer climate, and twice a day in the winter-time.  This may sound like a lot to some (twice a day) but those of you who, like me, have the luck of dry-skin in the genes, know that to apply twice a day and not have to worry the rest of the time is truly a blessing!

Tip

If you have seriously dry skin, do yourself a favor and buy this product.  Do yourself another favor and throw away any lotions you have, and stop buying lotions just because they are scented--instead, buy yourself some cetaphil cream and spend a little extra to get a nice perfume.  Lotions and creams (usually lotions) which are scented will only have additional ingredients which already complicate an extremely complex concoction.  Aim for products whose designers' sole concern is dry skin relief!

Hey THANKS!
I don't know if it would be right if I posted that as a review being that I LEARNED all of it from one book when I first started using the oils. I studied that book like it was a Bible! I swear it ripped my life away but I learned SO MUCH! I have almost the complete collection of the Essential Oils that are available these days! By the way, I don't know if I put it in the comments but Lavender is one of the few oils that can be used pure, or "neat" as they put it in the Essential Oil world. It can be put directly on burns, abrasions, or just a dab on the skin (I put mine on my brow chakra) to help you sleep!

This is quite possibly the awesomest comment I have ever received--and all of the different oils and uses! How exciting! I think you should repost this as a review! ;-) I'll report back once I try some...

5: Eucalyptus: Great for chest problems, and colic. Research has proved its antiviral properties as well. It is best known for its effectiveness against coughs and colds but is also great as an insect repellent!
6. Geranium (one of my favorites): This brings a radiant glow when used in skin care. I use it in a diffuser to brighten the mood. It has many of the same properties as all the other ones I've mentioned as well.
7. Rosemary: Both a physical and mental stimulant, it is also often used in hair care, acne, and cellulite remedies.
8. Lemon: This is useful as a water purifier and even better (in my eyes) is good at assisting in slimming, and dispersing cellulite, AND keep wrinkles at bay!!!

All except the Lavender should not be used plain on the skin! Just 2-3 drops each to about 1/2 ounce of carrier oil (almond oil, flaxseed oil, primrose oil, etc.) OR add it to your favorite scent-free lotion (such as your Cetaphil :)
Sorry to be so long winded on it, I just get so excited and there is just SO much knowledge that it is hard to just say, "Oh just use some lavender and call it a day!"

Hope this helps!!

As for brands, I mainly go through Wholesale Essential Oil which don't actually sell in bulk. They just sell at wholesale prices and are of good quality. As for what KINDS of essential oils, there are so many that I can really only start you off with a "Basic Care Kit"
1. Lavender: Every home should have a bottle of this! It's a natural antibiotic, antiseptic, antidepressant, sedative, and detoxifier.
2. Tea Tree: Also a powerful antiseptic, and antifungal. It's used in treatments for all sorts of infections, for ringworm, sunburn, acne, athlete's foot, toothache, and pyorrhea, among other things.
3: Peppermint: It is an excellent digestive, it helps the respirator system and circulation, it is an antiinflammatory, and an antiseptic. It's used in the treatment for indigestion, flatulence, bad breath, headaches, skin irritations, rheumatism, toothache, and fatigue.
4. Chamomile: There are several different types but the most common are German and Roman. German is more expensive due to it's azulene content but in my experience they both offer much the same effects. This oil has SO MUCH to offer that I could write a whole essay on Chamomile alone! It's most famous for it's tranquilizing effects and it works well with rejuvenation treatments. All depends on how much you use!

I've been meaning to respond to this for a bajillion years...essential oils is such a great idea! Do you recommend any brands in particular?

DanaNicole76 wrote on Nov 24, 2007 at 7:56AM

I love to buy great working lotions (I am a lotion freak) but I haven't given this one a second look. But now, not only will I LOOK at it, I will be buying it! I love the scent free ones because I like to add my essential oils to them for added therapy! :)

I am just like you where I have insanely dry skin. I will definitely grab myself a bottle of Cetaphil the next time I'm at the store. Thx for the heads up! Aloha! :)
