Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser —

To the Point

I have been using the Obagi System for close to three years. I decided to try something knew and was told to use a gentle skin cleanser. I bought Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser for all skin types.

A Closer View

Cetaphil advertises itself as a cleaner for every age, every stage and for every day. It claims to be a mild, non-irritating formula which softens as it cleans.

It claims to address the dryness caused by topical medications used in the treatment of acne, fine lines and wrinkles thus the reason it was recommended by my new product. I paid about $14.00 for a 16- fluid ounce plastic pump jar. That may sound like a lot but I need very little of this clear thin lotion. It washes the makeup off my skin well and afterward my skin feels soft and smooth - there is no feeling of dryness.

Other Information

Cetaphil is made in Canada and tests on animals.

On the website we read "This cleanser is gentle on your skin and sensitive to your skin's needs. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser will not strip the skin of natural protective oils or emollients, or disturb the skin's natural pH balance.... Recommended for years by dermatologists, this facial cleanser is ideal for people with special skin conditions like acne, rosacea, or eczema because of its gentleness. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is gentle enough for children, teens and adults...."

The ingredients are Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Stearyl Alcohol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, and Butylparaben.

My Viewpoint

I have no doubt that Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser might be the gentlest soap on the commercial market. If you have sensitive skin I would recommend it. I have sensitive skin and have had no problems with Cetaphil. I am recommending it though I would try a non-cruelty free soap if I don't go back to Obagi.

I agree with you. I didn't know when I bought the cleanser. I happen to like the cleanser. Oh well...

I didn't know they tested on animals. Thanks, now I will use somebody else. I will pay extra for non-cruelty products.

Obagi is really expensive but I read up on it and it's really good stuff. If I could adfford it, I would try it but I don't want to get hooked on something I can't buy as often as I need to.

I was going to go into this in the review but didn't. I was listening to a radio infomercial while driving. It went on and on and sounded amazing. I pulled over and ordered it. Yup sucker for infomercials. Back to Obagi but there was a product that the ET or someone said really worked and it was sold in Target in the $20ish range. I can't remember what it was but if I recognize it I'll try it only because of the cost. Jo

Nice review. Both my older girls used this because their eczema was so bad they couldn't use soap. It worked well.
