I first heard of Cetaphil while skimming through a popular magazine one day. The review said that it was the best cleanser ever, that it was worth the bucks, so I figured I would give it a try. Skip a year later, i'm scanning the aisle in walmart and I really need some facial wash. I see Cetaphil and I'm reminded of that article in the magazine so I buy it and head home.
Let me tell you a bit about myself. I wear makeup occasionally. Eye shadow, mascara and bronzer to be exact. So I need a facial cleanser that's going to be able to do the job for me at the end of the day not one that will have me scrubbing my skin till i'm red in the face.
I prepare to wash my face with the Cetaphil by first applying water to my face as the instructions read then I squirt some in the palm of my hand. I first notice that the cleanser is clear and fragrance-free which i like. I begin to wash my face and everything seems cool at first until I realize that my face feels like it's on fire. Wait, isn't this for sensitive skin? Yes, but why is it burning? And my skin isn't even that sensitive. Ooh and I got some in my eye which hurt alot. I continue to wash my face despite the pain and after a minute (which was all i could tolerate) I rinse my face.
I look in the mirror to admire my wonderfully cleaned face and i'm appalled. My eyeshadow was still in place, my mascara was running all down my cheeks my bronzer had been pushed around so much it was now on my forehead. I looked awful. My face was not clean at all. I ended up using my sister's cleanser to get my makeup off. I couldn't believe I brought into that crap about it being the best cleanser ever.
You're probably thinking " well it's not a makeup remover". But think about it. If it can't even remove makeup than what else can't it remove. It's pretty much clear that Cetaphil is some hand soap put into a bottle and made out to be a must-have product when it should be a must-trash product. It did nothing but push dirt around on my face like a broom. I still have a full bottle and the only reason i'm keeping it is because I want to see if there could actually be another use for it. So far there isn't.
I don't recommended this product to anyone for the simple fact that there are so many great products out there for acne that really do work but are so much cheaper.
