Sol is soulless
2 star rating

Beer Writer, Book Author, Homebrewer
Pros

    thirst quenching

Cons
    lifeless, boring

* Brilliant straw-yellow; thin, sparse foam (minimal head formation)

* Delicate malt aroma with slightest hint of sulfur.  Minute spicy hop notes in background.

* Thin, mildly sweet malt foretaste "hollows out" at midtaste.

* Finish is semi-fry with barely noticeable metallic tinge.

* Body is very light; carbonation level is gassy.

Synhopsis:

Sol is a very one-dimentional beer whose sole purpose is to quench thirsts.  As such, it does its job well.  As a beer with flavor and character, well...

On a related (positive) note, even though Sol is packaged in clear bottles, this one did not have the expected skunky nose.

I was suprised by the lack of "skunk" also, but you are right, it's pretty much something that I think many of my friends would end up drinking THINKING it was special because of the name, not because of the taste.

"soulless" is a good way to sum up Sol...
