The Central Texas SPCA has been saving homeless dogs and cats since 1988. The shelter is unlike most shelters. The animals have large spaces--not small metal cages--in which to play and be comfortable. The cat side is amazing--large "rooms" with chairs, cat towers, and many have windows to the outside. It's clean, cheerful, and the animals are obviously healthy, well-cared for, and comfortable. The staff and volunteers can tell you a great deal about all of the animals because they shelter is small enough to have a home- and family-like feel.
