Any homeowner with an air compressor will benefit from this reel, it is well made and a practical addition to your garage. It is also inexpensive as it sells for $19 and holds your air hose in place without cluttering up your garage.

    Installation

This is one of those products that needs to be assembled before use. There are 4 brackets that you need to bolt together that hold the hose on the reel. You also need to bolt on the handle and finally bolt the whole assembly to a wall, ceiling or bench. Two wrenches or sockets will get the job done for the reel. Then a drill for the mounting and finally bolting it in place.

    How it works

This is a manual reel as opposed to the auto wind models on the market. The reel will hold 100; of 3/8" hose (common air hose) or 50' of 1/2" hose (some water hose and larger air hose) The handle is easy to turn and since there is no guide you use your hand to guide it on the reel. There is also no catch on the reel to keep it from free spinning by itself, I attached a catch myself to keep it in place when not in use. (redneck speak for bunji cord)

    Bottom Line

I use this to hold extra hose when I need to work outside of my garage, I have 50' of hose on the reel. My air compressor has 25' and when I need the extra hose I simply plug the hose from my air compressor onto the reels air fitting and I have an additional 50 feet of compressed air at my disposal. I didn't buy an auto wind reel because unless you spend a lot of money on a professional model they are cheaply made and don't last.

For the homeowner however this is the perfect solution to storing that extra air hose for your air compressor. For $19 at Harbor Freight it is an excellent buy and a well built reel. It has a built in air fitting and all steel construction. It may not be a fancy reel but it is a practical one.
