Cell Review Summary

Author Stephen King has become a master of apocalyptic horror stories, metaphorically pitting good vs evil. As Cell begins, Clayton Riddell, writer, has just scored a publishing deal for his graphic novel and harbors dreams of the good life. Unfortunately for him, before that can happen, everyone listening to a cell phone when "The Pulse" is broadcast is turning into a murdering zombie. Since cell phones are on the hips or in the purses of just about everyone, that means just about everyone is now a crazed murderer. Both an indictment of our dependence on modern technology and a good ole Stephen King scare novel, Cell follows the trek of the few sane survivors as they battle the zombies on their way to safety. But, the zombies become smarter. "King keeps the pace and tension moving throughout, with his usual detailed descriptions and keen insight to what will make the reader cringe." Cell is your typical King creep fest and "had many of the trademarks of King's superior writing - excellent characterization, an unpredictable plot and just enough plausibility to make me think, "What if?" Wanna be up all night? Read Cell.

An avid, long term reader of King's works I feel very obligated to try and tempt into you into reading this novel.

Stephen King has a way (Salem's Lot)  of taking the classic tales of vampires, zombies, and the like and putting a fascinating twist on it.  Modernize it if it do ya well.  This tale...

Imagine if something as ubiquitous as cell phones suddenly turned on us. That's the premise of Stephen King's Cell: A Novel. One bright October morning, Clayton Riddle is visiting Boston. He's having a great day and is thinking about his son and estranged wife and getting home to them. To try to reconcile.... review »

If for no other reason, I thank Stephen King for taking those five words which haunt tv commercials:, "Can you hear me now?" and turning the phrase into something more than merely annoying..and into the realm of the truly ominous. While it might seem obvious to some of us that cell phones are horrible little devices, it still takes a pretty talented writer to write a book about evil spread by cell phones...and to keep readers riveted the entire time. I was one of those readers. Like King, I refuse to have a cell phone, an "electronic leash". No thanks.

But I'm really digressing here. Back to The...

I absolutely love end of the world Stephen King! This one was a bit harder to believe than "The Stand", but was written much better. There were better character's, because by the time you got to love them...tragedy would strike again...And heres what i liked best...for once, it ended with a somewhat happy ending...well, it left you guessing if there could be a happy ending, but it was so twisted i forgave him

Love ya man...you still got it.

btw im getting a whole new set of the "dark Tower" series, just to have in my library to read again...and probably again and again.

This is one book that was hard for me to put down, although almost everything Stephen King writes is hard to put down. Not only did this book make a valid point about cell phones but it also scares the crap out of you when you read it. Nobody wants to think that a cell phone could possibly cause mass pandemonium and death like that in a mere instant. Especially when pretty much everyone owns a cell phone. Stephen King starts out slow and then Bam! he just starts right into the scary, death defiying problems that he's so fond of creating. This book is one that everyone should read!

I love Stephen King novels, the movies not so much, actually they suck. King is a very detailed writer, and that is what makes him such a good novelist. Although most of his books are a lilttle off they are still good, this book is no exception. This book took me awhile to finish but all King books do, but in the end it was good. The ending was very open and your not sure what really happens. It is worth picking up if you are a King fan.

It was a great movie so i am guessing the book is also like that with a little difference but i still loved it reguardless anyways i think some one who loves fiction should read this book it is a very good read. I know i am one person who loves weird books i love to read them and even when it is cold and dark in the house those are better because then you really get into a scarey book the darker the better.

I read about half this book. It was good. But it was scary. I haven't been able to find where I put it so never finished it. I probably will whenever I figure out wherre it is. I would recommend this book very highly. This author almost always manages to catch my interest from page one.  I think I have read almost every one of his books. or darn near.

Stephen King's Cell has a great story line. This book is for anyone who likes science fiction type books. I absolutely LOVED this book though I am a huge Stephen King fan. It really hits home with our over use of cell phones and makes you think twice about picking it up so often!

I love most of Stephen Kings books, and this one was no exception. I was a good, quick read for me. I didn't want to put it down. The ending is very open, but also very typical. I liked the characters and the story. The book flowed and stayed interesting. Well done.

I couldn't put it down.  At times I felt like I needed to stop reading, or else I would become paranoid once someone called me.  I kept waiting for the moment when the affected would come through my door.

This is a great book, I couldn't put it down.  It will make you think everytime you put that cell phone to your ear to make or take a call.
