Cars Review Summary

Like the song says, "Life Is a Highway." Cars, "an animated comedy about a race car" utilizes the vocal talents of some pretty big names, such as Owen Wilson and Paul Newman. This Pixar film is a favorite of Viewpoints reviewers' kids. From the same people behind Finding Nemo and Toy Story, parents enjoy the message of Cars, one of friendship and believing in yourself. There's something for the adults as well, as there is included humor that only they would get, as well as a great soundtrack. Overall, Cars is "not just for young Gearheads."

Cars

Disney-Pixar, 2006

Rated G for General Audiences

Cars is a fun, family movie that combines impressive animation, great music and excellent voice talents. The characters are well-developed, the humor is appropriate and the story line is interesting and also promotes good moral themes.

Directed by John Lasseter, director of Toy Story 2, Cars includes the voice talents of Owen Wilson, Paul Newman, Bonnie Hunt and Larry the Cable Guy.

Characters in Cars:

Lightning McQueen (Wilson) is a sleek, red race car rookie who has just earned a three-way tie in the Piston Cup. On his way to the tie-breaker,...

Each year, an animated movie or two is released to a large number of theaters and each year, at least one of these releases turns into a critically acclaimed box office hit. The movie from 2006 that holds this honor is Cars, an animated comedy about a race car and his interaction with the other cars in a small western town.

Contents of This Movie:

Lightening McQueen (voice by Owen Wilson) is a champion race car who just finished his first big race against two of his fiercest rivals- Chick Hicks (voice by Michael Keaton) and The King (voice by Richard Petty)- in a three way tie. He is en route...

Intro
Living in a house with a 44-year-old self-described “Gearhead”, and a 13-year-old that is very much the same, I don't know quite how we made it this far without seeing the Pixar film Cars. Getting rather bored with the offerings lately on Starz on Saturday night, I decided to look for something on Pay-Per-View, and Cars was the only thing rated PG or lower that my kids hadn't already seen.

Plot
The film revolves around a rookie car, Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson), in a fictional stock car race. He's so self-assured, he fires his crew chief and works without a pit crew. He's...

We bought Pixar Cars for my then 2 year old son last Christmas. We had not seen it but had heard alot of good things about it and enjoyed the previews we had seen. The children, ages 5 and under seemed interested in it, so we purchased it as a Christmas gift. They didn't want to finish opening the rest of their gifts, they just wanted to watch the movie!

Over the past year, they have watched it several times a month. If a friend comes over, Cars is requested. We have purchased other children's movies since then, but Cars is always the top pick over any other movie we have. They'll even ask for...

This is one of my personal favorite movies of all time. I have watched it 100 times with my son because it is his favorite movie as well. I never get tired of it. The lesson is wonderful making it perfect for children because it is enjoyable and character building (something that you don't get much of with some children's movies). The characters are enjoyable and the details (look at the mountains in radiator springs) are admirable! 100 STARS

My son is only 3 but definately a gearhead. I bought this movie for him when it first came out and it has been his favorite ever since. Everything in his life is now influenced by the cars movie. He knows all the character cars by name. The only problem is that it is addictive to cars fanatics.

From the makers of Toy Story,Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles, Cars is a Disney Pixar animated movie but do not let that stop you from going to see it. It has a great message and features a lot of talented actors lending their voices to the animated characters. Owen Wilson is Lightning McQueen(Rookie RaceCar), Larry the Cable Guy is Mater(TowTruck), John Ratzenberger is Mack(18 Wheeler Truck), Paul Newman is Doc Hudson(1951 Hudson Hornet Car), Richard Petty is The King(Plymouth Superbird Racecar), Bonnie Hunt is Sally(Porsche), Cheech Marin is Ramone(Chevy Impala Lowrider), Jenifer... review »

This story mainly tells about an egotistical Lightening McQueen who one night while traveling to a tie-breaking game crashes and finds himself in Radiator Springs.

The cars in Radiator Springs don't take to well to McQueen and he sure does not like being there either.  After awhile he makes friends with them and falls in love with Sally.

Does Lightening McQueen stay egotistical or does he find himself to be a better car?

The animation in this movie is awesome.  The way that Pixar defined each car as its own unique personality exemplifies this movie.  Has some funny moments in it where Mater...

This movie was fun to watch in theaters, but it will likely be a kids' classic to be seen at home for all time. We made it our bedtime show for several weeks, and when we moved on to something else, I missed 'my' characters after a while. Although the movie premiered in 2006, there are still plenty of toys, clothing, birthday party theme accessories, and other Cars items that you can buy for the child who loves this movie today. My husband and I both find it entertaining and will probably always keep a copy of it in our house....even when the little ones are big.

Disney's Cars movie was enjoyed by my entire family.  There is enough adult humor to keep my husband interrested yet so slight that the kids didn't pick up on it. (We love the scene when we motice that porce has "pin stripping"!

My son loves the movie and watches it several times per month.  Even my older daughter loves this movie.  My daughter is not interrested in cars in general, but loves this movie.

We love the music in this movie.

This moview was cute, funny and worth watching!

I am into Nascar so i guess I am bias about this movie. I loved the Nascar characters! Lighting learns a valuable lesson that a lot of sports stars and movie stars need to learn. Remember where you came from. Lighting had to learn that he is just like every one else when it comes down to it. I really like the town and the way that they didn't think that every one owed them something. They just wanted people(cars) to come to there town so they could feel useful again. I'd like to have some of that organic fuel..man.

Cars is a good anmi movie. It is like a cartoon. The cars are human like and they have personalities and talk and such. This is great for all ages.  I  rented the DVD from Blockbuster online.  Some great celebs have lent their voice for this  movie. The humor is very clever.  Good music.  Some clever humor.  This movie, Cars, was very entertaining. The animation is very good and very colorful. It is hard to find som much to write for each review. This movie started a bit slow and had to build up.
