My husband and I are booked with Carnival and we leave this Saturday. I must say, at this point, (before the trip), we believe we will never book with Carnival again. Dealing with Carnival directly has been extremely disappointing, from a Customer Service aspect. I was inquiring about changing cabins (type: private balcony), as we are unhappy with the assignment received. The answer of "no", although disappointing, is understandable. The "too bad" attitude of the Carnival personnel is not understandable and is what has caused us to think this is our first AND LAST Carnival cruise. Customer Service is more than resolving issues. It is more about how you handle people. (how you speak to them, how you try to sound like you care, etc.) Clearly, we've chosen the wrong Cruise Line with which to spend our time and money. Beyond our decision not to choose Carnival again, we will inform our friends and families not to also. It's important to realize that money and cabin choice is NOT the issue. Customer Service is the issue.
By the way, we spoke to three different Customer Service reps. All had the same attitude and all conversations lasted less than 3 minutes. (In other words, I wasn't a "complaining customer".) One told us "It is what it is." Another cut us off. After spending what will inevitably be about $3,000 with Carnival, I expect them to at least act like they care. I hate that I've given them my money. Lesson learned, I guess? We'll stick to the tried and true Royal Carribean and Holland America Cruise Lines.
