My husband and I traveled on the Carnival Pride in July 2007 to the mexican riviera. It was my second and his first. The total experiece was great, but lets start from the begining. Max, our phone/internet agent was very well educated, patient, friendly and provided wonderful service while booking our trip.
Apon arriving at the boarding station the car and security representatives were frustrating to deal with: a bit rude and impatient. To credit Carnival, I believe these people are third party vendors not representing Carnival. This was the only bad experience of the whole trip.
Once in the hands of Carnival everything ran smoothly. Our luggage arrived impressively quickly. Our cabin maid was amazing! He introduced himself the first day and offered assistence whenever he saw us. I also want to add he was easy to find when we had questions. he hung out in the halls almost waiting for questions.(this is more important than you think)
As far as onboard accomodations, everything was, at minimum, up to my expectations. The food was fantastic. During the sit down dinners feel free to order everything on the menu, literally!! One night my husband could not choose between the lobster tail and the filet minon so the waiter brought him both! We indulged in every dessert option every night. It was a total treat.
My least favorite part was the on board entertainment. It was not bad by any means it just lacked WOW appeal.
The on shore excursion selection was appealing and exceeded my expectations. We did 3 excursions. One 8 hour tour, a ATV sand and sea, and a dinner and show deal. We filled our on shore days and still had some time to shop and sight see.
Overall, We would recommend Carnival to a beginner, economical, and/or family friendly consumer.
