My husband calls this the cruise from hell. There were 3 of us traveling with a group of 51 people. We were some of the first to pay for the cruise (paid in spring, cruise was October-November). We did not get our tickets and room location until 2 weeks before sailing date. We were placed in a room on bottom level while the rest of our group all had rooms on the 5th and 7th level. I immediately complained. The travel agent said nothing could be done and blamed it on Carnival. Carnival blamed it on the travel agent. When we got on the ship we complained and asked for a room near our traveling group. The person at the pursors desk said that there were no rooms available and that probably we were placed on the first floor because Carnival could not put 3 people in a room that was made to hold 4 people (2 single beds and 2 pull down bunks) because they would be losing the money that a fourth person would have paid. That was not true because we had a room that could hold 4 people and we saw rooms on the 5th and 7th level that had 4 beds but only using 3. We also paid the price that was listed for 3 people in a room, so Carnival has prices for 3 people in a room! There was a lot of engine noise on the first level. Two days we had bad exhaust fumes in our room. When we complained the first time the man at the pursors desk acted like he did not understand what we were saying, but he would report it. Our room stewardess did ask us if the smell went away. Another cruiser said that his brother had been moved because of fumes, but the pursors desk did not seem to know anything about it. Because we were on the first level of the ship, we were the last ones off the ship. Since the rest of our group was on the other levels they were off the ship and back at the hotel leaving us to find our own way. Our daughters sign and seal account was messed up from day one. The first time she used the card, it was invalid. After that was corrected, it took 3 visits to the pursors desk to get her account info to show up on our tv screen (where you are supposed to be able to check your account). The food was blah. I expected different dishes from around the world and fancy foods but it was basically the same food over and over, food that you would prepare at home. Only food available 24 hours was pizza and that was reheated at times. One nite they had a "wear your robe" party and had an ice sculpture with fancy food, but not very many people attended that party and some that attended did not even eat the food. Decorating was blah, bingo was expensive, hot and cold water in shower went to extremes(hot cold hot cold etc). Casino payout was bad especially considering we were on the ship 1 day longer than planned (which resulted in more players than usual) Because of bad weather, one of our original ports was denied leaving us to cruise ("crawl" since we had all the extra time) to the next destination. We were refunded $25 apiece. In addition to this, one of the original islands we were going to visit was closed due to a previous hurricane (I know no one controls the weather) so Carnival substituted another island that turned out to be filthy. This was our daughters first cruise and she found nothing exciting about it. She can eat the same food at home, she can play bingo cheaper at home, she saw nothing that was like the advertising she saw on TV. What a disappointment for her. Our room stewardess was wonderful. She did a super job! The cruise director Chris was great. He was a great entertainer. A couple of bartenders and waiters were good. A couple other ones were rude. Our experience with Carnival was not good at all and I would not reccomend the Carnival Legend to anyone.

I also had an itinerary that got changed due to that hurricane earlier in the year and found the replacement port, Honduras, to be the best snorkeling experience I have ever had at any island. I feel bad that you had such a bad experience and it seems like it started as soon as your room was assigned to you! :(
