My husband & I sailed on the Carnival Freedom to the Western Caribbean in Sept 09. We booked an "early bird" fare 5 months prior to the trip. I couldn't believe how little it cost compared to my last trip on the Carnival Conquest in 06. It was almost half the price but I enjoyed myself just as much!
The only thing that bothered me on this cruise was that there were very little activities planned, even on "Fun Days at Sea" and the activities they did have conflicted with our set dinner time.
The food is hit or miss. Best hot dogs I've ever had in my life! Great nachos. The sandwiches from the deli were wonderful. Some of the desserts were excellent and some were just inedible. We'd have to get several plates to find something we liked but we didn't mind since it's all-you-can-eat.
Best thing about the Freedom was the crew. I never saw a crew member who wasn't smiling! In the hallways, in the elevators, even on the islands when they were off work, they were happy & friendly. And there's so many (1 crew member per 3 guests) that you never have to wait long to get help if you need it. You can't finish your drink on the deck before the server is back to get you another. Honestly, I've never seen 1000 happier people in once place before in my life. It is because of them that I will continue to cruise with Carnival.
