Most HelpfulAffordable but Worthy
After seeing a lifetime's worth of ads for inexpensive Carnival Cruises, I was skeptical when we boarded the Carnival Conquest for the All Star Smooth Jazz Cruise (see my review). But all those notions were quickly dispelled when I saw how beautiful the ship was, and how great...
Most HelpfulI sailed with Carnavial Cruise Lines in February 2008. When on a cruise ship you have to use a card issued on the ship to purchase drinks, ect. After getting off of the ship and returning home I noticed there were some descreptancies on my bill. I used my card in the slot machine at the casino. ...
review »I would recommend the Carnival conquest to everyone, especially people that live in Texas. Galveston is a short/easy drive to the ship terminal. The service was outstanding, I think we had the best waiters in the whole ship...Nicoletta and Roseul. The food in the dining room was the best at all three meals and the pizza buffet that's open 24 hrs has really good pizza. Play mini golf- it's at the very top of the ship and has an absolutely beautiful panoramic view. The entertainment (night shows) wasn't as good on this ship as it was on royal Caribbean but that is really the only complaint. We were...
review »One of the best cruises ever. The ship was very clean and the crew was quite friendly. The service was very good, but tips were included in the price which may have reduced the quality of service slightly. The food was fantastic. You will eat too much. There were plenty of choices of entertainment as well as places to be alone or to work out. The free health seminars were a disappointment, because they were mainly an advertisement for treatments. Overall, the cruise was a great value for the money and extremely enjoyable.
We love Carnival Cruise Lines. We have taken about 9 cruises to various destinations. The last one was to Jamaica, grand cayman, and Cozumel. We went zip-lining throught the jungle in Jamaica, and snorkeling with the stingrays in Grand Cayman. We love snorkeling on our own in Cozumel. There is a spot near Senior Frogs on the beach and you can see a lot of sea life. This cruise we have done once before and enjoyed it; but the zip-lining 300ft above the jungle floor is something everyone should do at least once in a lifetime!
Carnival Conquest is not a fun ship at all.
I am writing to you concerning my cruise on the Carnival Conquest departing Houston on September 28, 2008. The whole cruising experience on the Conquest was very disappointing.
Lets start with the embarkation process. I know that leaving out of Houston is not the regular port, but the whole process was extremely slow, with no information available to the passengers. My wife and I drove to the terminal. We got near the terminal at 12:30 pm as the earliest boarding was at that time. There was a huge traffic jam to get to the terminal. We had to wait in the...
review »The Erie Canal was a huge political, economic, and social change in life. This was one of the great things that had happened in the age of Jackson. The title of the picture was "Entrance of the Canal into the Hudson at Albany", by James Eights. The artwork first appeared in 1824. Target of the picture of was the country to show what a great thing was being made and what is was looking like. The picture was taken because he wanted to show people what the canal had looked like and what it would be used for...
review »We took the cruise just before Katrina hit. It was a last minute thing the wife and I did just before going to Germany for two years. Everyone was helpful from the start to the end of the trip.
After parking and dropping off our luggage we hopped on the bus and took it to the terminal. We had to wait about an hour before we were signed in and allowed on the boat.
The ship left port on time and took the canal out to sea. It was wonderful watching the small houses and lights disappear into the night. We decided not to eat at the main dining time. We took a stroll on the decks and got oriented...
review »This was my first cruise. I really didn't know what to expect. I think the worst part of the entire cruise was getting checked in to board the boat. After that everything went very smoothly . They give you a credit card that you can put money on and purchase products from the ship and pay for guided tours once the ship is docked in port.
I really enjoyed the shows on the boat. They have something for you to do all day long. You don't have to go on the tours, because there is always something going on on the boat. They have Vegas like shows, bingo, comedy, and a casino just to name...
review »This was my third cruise. The food was far better than the other cruise ships I had been on. They had a new person in the Internet cafe and she was not friendly. I used the cafe during a "happy hour" 50% off time and my account was not credited. I went to the purser's desk on the day we were leaving and they said they could not fix it, the cafe had to do it. They contacted her and said she would be in the cafe at 0815 but we where debarking at 0730, self assist. I told her that and she couldn't have cared less. She apologized for the charge but refused to fix the situation before...
review »Spent a day and a half in port of departure because of light fog. Carnival dropped Jamaica from the itinerary. After spending two days cruising to Grand Cayman they also canceled that port of call. We did have a good day in Cozumel. On the way back to Galveston they stopped in Progresso as a substitute for Grand Cayman - what a dump, absolutely nothing to see or do. Service on board was very poor, entertainment was marginal; a high school review would have had more talent. The entire ship smelled of tobacco and body odor. This was the worse vacation we've ever had. Carnival went...
review »I loved the cruise!! It was awesome!! I had a roommate who was handicapped. So we got a special room. It really was fun. The ship was huge. So we had to walk. A lot!! But it was still fun. I enjoyed the stops we made. Especially into Mexico. I went to Jamica, too.It was fun,but I really loved the ruins of Mexico. They were Olmec ruins and I loved that!! The service on the ship was really cool, too. Every night it was awesome. I loved the food. At night it was so good. At lunch it was great, too. My roommate liked the pizza. She also ate at the lunch bar. There was...
review »Over the Carnival Valor was a beautiful and clean ship. Getting on took about 1 hours, they could have done better in that area if they opened up all tellers. Food was great, staff was friendly and did a great job. Dinner was fabulous and the waiters did a great job in that area. Loved all ports and enjoyed them completely.
Only complaint, is that smoking is allowed and if your a non-smoker you couldn't enjoy areas of the ship because it became to overwhelming. I felt there were too many people on the ship and I felt like I was walking down a New York city street. Next time I cruise,...
review »My husband and I went on our first cruise in 2005 and chose the Carnival Conquest as our ship. At the time the Conquest was leaving from New Orleans and since we live in Arkansas, we liked the fact that we could drive to the port rather than having to fly. It was a dream vacation for us since neither of us had done anything like this before or been out of the country. We loved the ship. It was large and very modern. Our room was comfortable and the service was great. Our dining servers were wonderful and our room steward took great care of our room. We loved the beautiful scenery at each port....
