I have had several dry, scaly, itchy, bumpy patches on my hands for about a year. At first I thought they were hives from some allergen, but they stayed and stayed. Then they became scaly and really itchy and really UGLY. After much research, I thought it must be eczema, though I did not get it diagnosed by a doctor.

I tried SO many creams, including expensive eczema creams. Nothing cleared it up. The best result I got from anything was that it itched a little less. I thought it must be something else, so was thinking about finally going to a dermatologist.

Then, I got a tube of Carmex Healing Cream and starting using it. Yes, it is nice and non-greasy. I can put it on at my desk at work and go right back to working on my computer. It smells okay. The scent is light and does not overpower. And it makes my skin feel nice. Though, I do not have really dry skin, so all lotion makes my skin feel nice.

After about a week of daily use, I noticed that the itchy patches on my hands weren't so itchy. And they weren't so red. I was beyond thrilled! This was the best they had looked in a year. I would have been happy if they stayed at that level as they were less itchy, less red, less scaly and less noticable.

But they didn't. After several weeks, the patches were totally GONE! I could not believe it. I had tried so many things to clear this stuff up and all it took was a half tube of this relatively inexpensive cream. I have found that if I go without using this cream for several days, I can feel a deep itch where the patches were and see them starting to come back, so I won't be going without it at all.

I don't know what is in it that cleared those patches up, but it did something many, many other creams and lotions would not do. I love it!

Scent
Light and does not overpower any other scent I might be wearing.

Absorption
Absorbs quickly and does not leave my skin feeling at all greasy. I can go right back to whatever I was doing, including typing on my keyboard with not problem.

Effectiveness
Cleared up skin problem I had for over a year!

I am a giant fan of carmex lip balm, so I was excited to see carmex have a new lotion for skin.  I got it at walgreens for 99 cents, which made it a price too great to pass up.  I can honestly say that it was average and I would probably not purchase it again because there are better skin creams on the market.  The smell of the cream was pleasant and I liked that.  I put it on and it soaked in a little bit.  I mean there was some left on my hands that didnt soak in and I had to wipe off the excess.  It wasn't gritty or grainy, which is good because I hate that.  After awhile I felt like it absorbed but it didnt really leave my hands feeling soft.  I just expected more from the cream because I know how fantastic the lip balm feels.  I mean you can feel the lip balm tingling and working, but that was not the case with the hand cream at all.  It is just average.  If you want to try it to satisfy your curiousity, it's ok.  But it is not something I would buy on any regular basis.

Scent
It smelled ok, not too strong.

Absorption
It didnt absorb that well and left my skin feeling a bit sticky.

Effectiveness
Worked ok, but there are better products out there.

Soaks in FAST. Note this is NOT the cream sold in metal tins.

By

from USA

Comments about Carmex Healing Cream:

Let's just start this off by saying that my husband hates lotions, but after trying this once, he stole mine! There is really something excellent here; it soaks in MUCH faster than most other lotions, and the moisture is wonderful. Very, very soothing and effective for hands/arms/elbows that feel what I call "creaky".

Scent
Here's where the product needs a little work. The scent is not great. It's not particularly bad, but it's very overpowering, as if someone threw too many possible scents together in hopes of making something magical. I would hesitate to use this in public at all, because the smell is just immediately in-your-face. I would find this unpleasant if someone used it next to me in a waiting room or a bus stop, etc.

Absorption
Absorption is the quality that sells this stuff. It is AWESOME. I am amazed by how quickly it wicks into the skin. You could apply this, and within fifteen seconds, successfully turn a doorknob. Very unusual for a hand cream, and it's what sold my husband on the product instantly.

Effectiveness
Good, lasting moisture. Please note there are two levels of this cream, one intended for dry skin and one for extra dry skin. They both work great, but obviously, choose based on your skin type. It also warrants pointing out that this is NOT the same formula sold in little metal tins. That stuff is much thicker/stickier, and does not absorb as well.

A good brand and a good product

By

Comments about Carmex Healing Cream:

I have to say that this is definitely an effective healing cream. I have tried practically every lotion on the market. I unfortunately suffer from a disorder in which my body does not produce a normal amount of natural oils which causes my skin to become extremely dry. I bought this lotion because it stands behind a strong name. I have been using the Carmex lip balm since I was a child and I have to say the healing cream works pretty great. Don't get me wrong this definitely is not a bath and body works product, so don't expect it to smell like roses and daffodils however if you want effectiveness for dry skin this is your product. I put this healing cream on my feet after a shower and then put on thick socks! The next day I could already tell a difference! My husband also gets extremely dry skin in the winter time and he hates using my girly lotions and hand creams! He really liked this product and asks for it every year in December!

Not as good as other lotions

By

from Arlington, TX

Comments about Carmex Healing Cream:

I've heard great things about the Carmex lip balms so I thought that I would give their healing cream a try hoping that it would be as good as their lip products. I don't like the smell of their lip balm and I did not like the smell of this cream either. It smells way too medicated for me. This is definitely not a lotion that I would put on before going out. It was very greasy on my skin. I didn't like how it made me feel sticky. It did dry nicely and make my skin softer but other products do the same thing plus they smell better. It lasted for quite a while. I washed my hands a couple of times and that did not stop my hands from being soft. It was not an expensive product so it's affordable for a lot of people. I personally would not try this again as I am not a fan. If it weren't so greasy and smelly, I would like it. If you are a fan of the general Carmex brand however, you should definitely try this one out.

Great new product that helps dry skin

By

Comments about Carmex Healing Cream:

I recently found this in my local Walgreens. I had bought the trial size for .99, I loved the scent of the product, it's not greasy and it sinks into the skin and smooths it. I bought a few for myself and for a few for my stepmother, she loves it also, so next time I plan to buy the bigger tube. I recommend this product for any dry skin condition.

Carmex Healing Cream

By

from Addison, IL

Comments about Carmex Healing Cream:

This cream geniunely surprised me on the very first use. I am used to creams that say they are for healing and all that and those creams feel like I poured wax onto my hands. Not with this cream. For starters it has a very mild pleasant smell, A little goes a long way so I am finding myself using a little less than half of what I need to use with other hand creams. It absorbs in pretty fast so if I put it on then pick up a glass there is no handprint on the glass from the cream and better yet, I dont lose my grip on the glass.

This will sound odd but I do a lot of tile work and typically dont wear gloves so my hands take a pretty good beating with mortar and grout - I only use sanded. My hands get pretty dry and peely by the time I clean up. I figure if a cream can perform well against that it'll work against anything. The cream performed the same as using it after doing dishes with very little burning (other creams burn my hands after mortar work)

Carmex healing cream: Great for sensitive skin

By

from Austin, TX

Comments about Carmex Healing Cream:

I bought this from the drugstore to try for two reasons (1) there was a deal (of course!) and (2) I love Carmex lip balms and thought they must be of the same quality. I use it mainly for surgery scars that I have. I used to use an over the counter but pharmaceutical ointment/cream which did not really do anything for me. I started using this to moisturize the scars and the skin around it. My skin is very sensitive so I cannot use just any lotion. To be clear, I do not use it to make the scars fade. I use it to just moisturize them and the skin around it. I occasionally use it on my elbows and knees. I give this five stars for the wonderful moisturization it gives my skin and the lovely light powdery scentscent. It makes my skin, especially around the elbows and knees soft and smooth. It is a bit pricey but there's an occasional sale and manufacturer's coupon that I can take advantage of. I love it so much that I bought a few to give away to friends and relatives.

Carmex Healing Cream Is Awesome For My Skin!

By

from Olympia, WA

Comments about Carmex Healing Cream:

I don't remember where I bought my Carmex Healing Cream. I do remember that it was pretty inexpensive though. That's a good thing! Also, I love how this moisturizes my skin. It's awesome. It really gets my hands, feet, elbows, and all the extra dry areas moisturized! It makes my skin super soft. It works great on tough skin too. I also like the scent of this. I'm not exactly sure how to explain it, but I really like it. Also, the only bad thing about this is that this lotion is a little greasy. It makes your hands a little slippery and greasy. This can be a pain, and it's not good to use before you leave the house. It's worth using it at night though! It really saves my skin! All in all, I highly suggest this product. It's very moisturizing, a great price. I'm sure that this can be found at many stores also. It's probably not very hard to find. I'm sure almost everyone can afford it too. Great for people on a budget. Love this product!
