I had a Capital One Platinum Mastercard. I never missed a payment, I was never late on a payment. I always paid above the minimum payment request. When I received a notice letting me know that they were raising my interest rate, and I mean RAISING the rate...I called them to find out why. They said it was an across the board raise because of the economy. Now all I hear lately is about how the economy is coming back. Seniors are not even getting their annual cost of living increase this year because the cost of living has gone down. Which is it? If the rate increase was not bad enough, when I called to "opt out" they told me to be sure and redeem any "rewards" I had accumulated. I wanted to use them for gift cards for my grandchildren this year as Christmas gifts, so I waited a little while before I went to use them. "MY OWN FAULT"I "thought" she said Oct. 15 was the deadline. So on Oct. 1 I went to redeem them, to find out that I was not allowed because I had closed my account by "opting out". I again called them. They told me I had waited too long, I was supposed to redeem them by Aug.1. As I said, my own fault. But I did pleed with them, to no avail. The only person that had the "AUTHORITY" to change this or to help me ..."DOES NOT TAKE PERSONAL PHONE CALLS" So people, Beware of Capital One...they have no heart..and they WILL NOT give you a second thought. But they did feel the need to REMIND me that they had a valid contract with me, and I must pay my bill as agreed, but they did not have to give me the rewards I had earned and saved for my grandchildren. I would not even give them one star, but it is required.
