Most HelpfulCapital One is a well- known credit card issuer that was founded in 1995 and has grown exponentially since then. It specializes in extending credit card offers to people with poor or damaged credit, allowing consumers with low credit scores a way to obtain a credit card and rebuild their credit record....
read full review »Capital One has been in my wallet since college. It had the neat water drops on the front - very hip. The rates jump EVERYWHERE! Balance transfers rates and timeframes are great, but then the rates skyrocket! There is NOOOOO middle ground! And trying to talk this out with a customer service rep is near impossible. I resorted to email. All the emall responses go around in circles - not addressing my specific rate questions on current balances and history of rates, instead the rep recites my current terms and conditions. There is no opportunity to negotiate, no attempt in keeping my business,...
read full review »You may get lulled by the commercials BUT where is the Customer Service when you NEED it...You can't talk to a customer service agent or get a Postal dated POSTING which is now overrided by their Eastern Time Zone computer clock. Annual fee(s) are posted ahed before the Annual Renewal date so...if you decide to cancel the FEE you have to chase the Supervisor to CANCEL the CARD relationship.
Automation takes the HUMAN touch away from YOU and the company.
NOT worth IT... YOU FINANCE the crazy commercials
After 6 years of having Capital One Visa-No Hassle Rewards card, I'm closing my account. Because I normally pay my balance in full each month, I don't pay attention to fees and policies on late payments. I paid one payment online ONE HOUR late a few months ago. I knew I'd get hit with interest and I paid it. However, the next month I got hit with interest again on all of my charges even though I paid in full and early. I called and was told that's their policy--2nd month is charged interest no matter what. I asked to speak to someone who might have authority to waive this interest given...
read full review »As of July 2009 - There's no annual fee if you have excellent credit, which I thought I did with a credit score in the upper 700s with all 3 bureaus, however I was declined. My boyfriend was also declined. I've had Capital One's card before, but I canceled because of the $29 annual fee. It was a little hard to let go because they had raised my credit limit to $4500, but why pay to have a card when you should be getting paid? Maybe if you're trying to improve your credit score...
When I visited the Capital One site a few months ago, they had the no annual fee offer available for "good"...
read full review »I have capital one visa card there services is fine however capital one does not tell you that they don't report your credit limit to the credit bureaus because of this it appears that your are always maxed out even if you only have a small balance. With this said they have even admited this to me when I asked ... They also do this so you appear to be BIG SPENDER with your cards and are not appealing to other hip credit card companies.. There is also a class action law suit pendig... Capital one may give you some points however your credit score takes a hit anytime you balance is more than 30...
read full review »I got this card to use on a European vacation to get cash as I needed it. I thought I understood the terms and conditions, but I was wrong. I was charged $10 every time I got a "cash advance" from an ATM machine. Not only that, I was charged 24% becase the "cash advance" was unpaid until the due date. What I mean by that is that even though I paid the amount owed in full on the due date, I was still charged a finance charge because there was a cash advance on the account in the time period.
The card was advertised as having an introductory 0% finance charge for the first few months. After talking...
