I got this card after having been declined by everyone else, so, in that aspect if you are looking for a card and everyone else is turning you down, then you may have luck getting this card. I would only recommend it though if you truly need it. First I hated the fact that there was a annual fee, and only a $300 dollar limit on it when I had it. I did call them and complained after I paid the card off and wanted to close the account. They said that they couldn't get rid of the annual fee, but they could drop the interest rate if I chose to stay with them. I declined. I couldn't really justify paying the annual fee again (which was up and coming at that point) and basically had originally got the card to help improve my credit, which it did. I was able to close the account after they spent a good 10 minutes on the phone trying to persuade me to keep it and got myself a better card with a lower interest rate and no annual fee.

Big discounts with my GM Reward card - Now Capital One

We've had our GM Master Card nearly as long as we have been married, 40+ years. It was bought out by Capital One within the past few years but it is still a GM Rewards card that gathers reward points every time we use it. In the years we have been married, we have had from 1,000 to 2,500 dollars worth of points taken off of a new car purchased through Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac. The dealership we have worked with has been great to give us new car prices but it was even nicer to tell them that we wanted our GM points taken off as well. It makes us feel great that we have a card that cares enough about us to reward us with this kind of discount when you are buying a new car. Because we carry other family members on our card, we have been able to purchase cars for them using our discount as well. Proud to have this card in the past but a little concerned now that my last car is on the recall list with faulty ignition that has twice caused my car to stop going down the highway. Because of this, we hesitate to purchase another new vehicle from them but we know the points will be there if we decide to use them.

Good to start with

Capital One was the first major credit card company I had credit with. They took a chance with me and started my limit low. I had it for about a year or so then my limit jumped quite a bit. The fees weren't too high and there was no annual fee. The monthly payment was very manageable for me only being 18 years old at the time. The sign up process was also so fast and easy and they gave me response withing minutes. Customer Service At the end of my relationship with them I did have to call about a few issues with me not being able to keep up with payments and they were always willing to assist me in anyway they could. They were also able to assist me with a newer card to help lower my interest and I qualified for a higher limit. They also let you know a out different promotions. Very friendly and helpful. Available Rates I am sure the better your score the better the rates just like anyone else but even with no credit, the rates were not too bad.

This credit card has a 1.5 percent cashback bonus with all purchases, which is the best regular rate for cashback bonuses, although there are cards that give more cashback bonuses for certain categories. i use this card for categories not covered by the other credit card cashback bonuses. This card has no annual fee.

they took a chance on me

After a devastating plunge in my credit in mid 2000 and losing my home, Capital One was the first to reach out and extend me credit again. I am very appreciative of this because I'm not a deadbeat. Over the course of time I have earned the privilege of having two MasterCards with them and am slowing building up my credit score again. Everywhere I have used my cards there has been no problem. One of my cards is part of a rewards program and the money, which accumulates I can either take for cash or apply it toward paying down the balance on my card. Or, better yet, I can just let it accumulate. I don't have to use it within a certain time period. I may pay a bit higher interest rate, but I don't mind. They trust me. Customer Service I do all my payments automated with them over the phone. Instructions are easy and payments get to them securely and swiftly. Plus I get a confirmation number. Available Rates I don't mind that I pay a higher rate.

When I needed a credit card company to give me a chance, Capitol One came through for me. Every once in a while I need that extra help with something like gas, etc and they're here for me so my overall rating of them is excellent. Customer Service Always there to help and answer questions. Very polite and I like that. Available Rates Their rates could be a whole lot better. A little on the high side.

Beware interest rate bait and switch & poor customer service

Beware interest rate bait & switch. I received numerous direct mail solicitations to apply for their credit card with a 5.99% balance transfer interest rate for 3 years. I diligently went through all the steps of applying, phoning for the transfer, only to find that when they read the terms & conditions, the rate was 6.99%. I said, No - the direct mail piece in my hand shows 5.99% and that's what I applied for and expected to pay on this balance transfer. It has now been a week of phone calls, emails and faxes and they still haven't changed the rate from 6.99% to the advertised 5.99%. So just a word of caution that you may not get the interest rate advertised and listen carefully when they read the terms becasue the rate may be higher than you expect and it will take you forever to get this corrected. I'm still working on this, but I think Capital One just failed to impress a new customer! Customer Service See the comments on the bait & switch on the interest rate, and the complete hassle trying to get this rectified. Let's see .... four emails, four phone calls, a fax and now waiting ............ Available Rates Bait & Switch - Not Impressed with this False Advertising at all! Direct Mail piece shows 5.99% rate. Actual rate was 6.99% and no one can tell me why it was changed.

Don't pay it down in order to obtain a better credit used to available ratio. They will just lower you limt!! Customer Service To reduce my credit line immediately following a major pay down and following 10+ years of never being late on a single payment is not "Customer Service" in any sense of words.

I would not get this credit card the representives lie to you and than they tell you there is nothing they can do to fix it. The managers talk down to you. I have been told that I was not aloud to talk to a manager. I have had my card for over 3 years when you call to talk to someone they send you to other countries and get upset when you cant understand them. They hold your payments for days after making them. I have made my payments from the same account and paid the same $500 a month for 3 years and it never fails that they decide to hold it and wont release it no matter what. They feed you so much crap and than dont follow through. I would stay away from this company as they lie and dont care about their customers. CAPITAL ONE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
