I have been a Capital One cardholder for a few years now. I am someone who is not very good at sticking with a budget, has a very low income (inspite of having three jobs between my husband and I) and my credit card is rarely paid off. Many times I've had to use my card for necessities like gas to get to work or medicine for a sick child, because there just wasn't any cash available. I've been late and over the limit more than once.
I've certainly given Capital One plenty of reasons to not want to work with me, but when I really needed their help they were there. Twice I have been unable to pay on my account for a few months, once due to decreased work income because of an injury and once when my husband lost his job and was out of work for a few months. Both times Capital One worked with me to lower my payments and make them more manageable, or to delay them altogether. They have waived fees for me and helped me budget my payments when money has been scarce. They have also helped me to find other resources to help me better my finances. I've had a few other credit cards with other companies over the years, but none has treated me as well as Capital One.
