Capital One recently sent announcements to even their best customers with perfect payment on-time payment records that rates were going up. For a long time, Capital One offered fair interest rates like 9.9%. They decided a few months ago to jump those to 26% or more.

Of course they're sending a message to their long-time customers that they don't really want to be in the credit card business, so of course I called immediately to reject the change in terms and permanently close my account.

Sky-high interest rates are a hassle that nobody deserves.

Got other accounts with Capital One??  Why not...

The card is convient, but can bite you with its outrageous fees. When payments are due on holidays, the card has no forgiveness even if you schedule the payment on these dates. The interest is off the chart, and caters to those who have less than perfect credit.

I am like most people in debt due to credit cards, they are convient but really hurt you in the long run. It is all about the $, there is no compassion or concern for anyone. Now on the news they are wanting to raise your minimun payments and lower your credit limit. It doesn't matter if you have been a customer for years or days you are still treated like scum of the earth. I wish I had never got a credit card, if you don't have cash just don't get it. The hassle and repayment are not worth the product or service that you buy.

I have a rewards Capital One Card.
They have great customer service.  However, the rewards card takes forever before you have enough points to earn a reward greater than a $5 -10 gc.  Also, they are constently sending me blank checks in the mail which make me nervous.  What if someone got ahold of the checks and forged my signature.

The best thing you can do is get rid of your Capital One cards.  With the Economy the way it is if you default on them, Capital One will pursue you any way they can.  Other creditor will simply write you off, send you to collections.  Capital One will take you to court and freeze your bank accounts.

I started through the Chapter 11?  13?  the one that helps you re-organize.  Today I found out they garnisheed my bank account for over 4,000.  That means I have 0 in my accounts and outstanding charges.  I can't pay rent, utilities, nothing.

I'm in for a big fight and not sure I'm ready for...

I've had a Capital One credit card since 2004 - my interest rate was 9.9%.  I just - out of the blue, received a postcard type mailer that said I needed to call an 800 number or my interest rate would be going up to 29% in May.  I don't have missed or late payment issues, nothing like that.  Called the number and the only option is to deny the interest increase which in turn, cancels your card.  I don't even ever want to think about them again.  They are crooks.

I found out the hard way with this company.  It was my first credit card ever owned and they gave me a $300 credit limit.  By the tine the took out all kinds a fees there was only $50 left for me.  I used it once for $10 in gas and paid at least $20 for most payments.  I missed one and got charged so many fees and penalties it sent my card over the limit which added more fees and before i knew it I received a $1200 bill which of course I couldn't pay and to this day they're still charging fees.  I'll never understand how anyone expects for someone to pay more than what was able to be paid...

Capital One provides a great credit card with good rates and good customer service.  In my experience my credit limit was periodically increased without my requesting it and without asking if I wanted an increase.  I feel this is the only area in customer service where they lacked.

I think this is one of the few credit card company's out there that is willing to take a chance on the average buyer. I like the flexibility of this card, the ease of use, the no hassle freedom of use. The benefits are many, the cons not that many.
