Capital One - All Credit Cards —

Capital One recently sent announcements to even their best customers with perfect payment on-time payment records that rates were going up. For a long time, Capital One offered fair interest rates like 9.9%. They decided a few months ago to jump those to 26% or more.

Of course they're sending a message to their long-time customers that they don't really want to be in the credit card business, so of course I called immediately to reject the change in terms and permanently close my account.

Sky-high interest rates are a hassle that nobody deserves.

Got other accounts with Capital One??  Why not close those out too!?!?! A sleazy bank is a sleazy bank....

I agree. Years ago I was loyal to capital one. I always paid on time and I always paid more than min. Then for a few months I had financial troubles. I called Capital to ask them to lower my rate and for some leaniancy. They refused and were also very rude to me on the phone. When I asked to speak to the manager the manager was also very rude. A few months later I found myself back off my feet and doing well so I paid the account completely off and then closed my account, but before I could the manager asked to speak to me and then he spent about half an hour kissing my $%%! trying to convince me to stay with them. I was not rude but I told him him the good customer service came a little too late.

I am getting ready to close mine too. They declined iTunes after they saw "suspicious" activity....two of my regular use places and one new shopping site! Like what was suspicious?! I spent forever on the phone answering more questions than I have ever had to in my life. I am sticking to the credit union...cash back is NOT worth the hassle!

thanks for the heads-up. I will be sure to tell my husband to cancel my account! I opened it years ago to help re-establish good credit. It is over 700 now, so I don't need to deal with a 26% interest rate!

They've all turned sleazy lately in an attempt to bail their sorry butts out of the jam they got themselves into. Too bad.
