We love this camera.

My husband and I are decided to buy our first digital camera for an upcoming trip to Germany. After doing some research, we decided on the Canon - PowerSHot SD800 IS Digital Camera because it got good reviews, is a quality camera and was in our price range. We took it on our trip, and it turned out to be a great investment. The Canon PowerShot is easy to use, has a variety of features, and takes quality pictures. My husband uses the camera regularly when he takes our yellow lab to the pond or woods, I used this camera on a trip to Costa Rica, and we recently used it on a trip to Maine. I will be taking the camera on an upcoming trip to Spain. Image Quality Excellent. Performance Works well. No complaints. Ease of Use Very straightforward. This is a good camera for amateurs, but also has features for people who want to be more creative. Durability We use the carrying case, and have had not problems. Battery Life Lasts a long time before it needs to be recharged. Portability Light and easy to carry.

Great quality pictures

I have had this camera for a number of years and it's strength is definitely picture quality. Cannon has wonderful colors and a great lens which allows for really nice photos. I think they are the best. With that said there a few negatives. Low light or inside shots are poor. Even with changing to different settings, etc this camera just doesn't take a good shot when it is dark. You really compromise your subjects. Also I find taking motion or sports shots are very difficult. Even anticipating you often miss the shot. The shutter speed is just too slow to accomadate. Another negative is that it smokes...this is not unique to my camera. I have seen the same thing happen to others with this camera. It sidn't happen right away but after a few years when you use the flash it gives off a puff of smoke. Very odd but it happens but doesn't seem to effect the picture. I really do like canon and would recommend a slightly better camera --- there is so much more on the market then when I purchased this. I still love the portablity and ease of use and would look for a 20x, HD type. Make sure you check out canon's picture quality --- the colors are gorgeous and if they can fix a few low light issues I think that camera would be awesome!

Nothing Beats Canon

I LOVE this camera...had it for years and still preferred it over my husbands brand new Sony Digital Camera....catches everything, has a large screen to view pictures on and is still small enough even for my smallest of purses...surprisingly easy to figure out as well!

Solid Camera for Traveling

4

This camera is super light and compact. It is absolutely perfect for traveling because it's just so light and durable. It's a basic point-and-shoot device. I wouldn't want my professional event photographer using one. But it's great for personal use. Image Quality I can't complain. High resolution. Performance It takes pictures well. Ease of Use It's a pretty simple point and shoot camera. Durability I've had it for years. Battery Life Lasts for a couple days of traveling. The rechargeable battery is kind of annoying though because it requires a special charger. Portability I can take it anywhere. It's so light.

decent camera for personal use

I have upgraded to Canon Powershot SD800 from my Canon powershot SD300. Powershot SD800 IS is an ultimate compact and very stylish metal body with wide angle, stabilized zoom, anti-noise filter and good speed. Canon bundles a 16MB memory card with the SD800, which would hold 4-5 photos with 5 mega pixel setting. SD800 can use Secure Digital (SD) and MultiMedia (MMC) cards, as well as the new SDHC format. I have bought a 8GB SDHC card and its very fast. The optical image stabilization prevents shakes and eliminates blurry shots. It features a 2.5" LCD display, point-and-shoot operation, and a excellent VGA movie mode. The face detection system works as promised. There are some manual modes which makes it better then other but it would be nice to have more controls. It has 3X optical zoom. The videos are comparable to that of ones shot on camcorder. It comes with a lithium-ion rechargable battery with takes up 300 shots per charge. The battery charger is very simple and can be plugged directly into power port. I'd say this is good camera for personal use but little expensive.

Lights, Camera, Action!

The Canon PowerShot SD800 IS Digital Camera is the best digital camera that I have ever owned. Sleek and affordable, this little beauty gives you the pictures that you want, when you want them. There are of functions behind this amazing camera that has many options for you to choose from. Shoot, zoom, flash and even a stabilizer that stops the camera shakes, ensures you of quality pictures all of the time. It is very easy to operate and has a beautiful, large viewing screen. Basically, just point, click and shoot. This camera also comes with a SD card as well as rechargeable batteries so there is nothing else that you need to purchase to get started taking beautiful pictures, wherever and whenever you want to. What could be any more simpler than that. Affordable and compact, this camera is ready whenever you are. I am going to mention this camera to all my friends as it is well worth the money I paid for it.

Canon SD890IS is a Powerhouse

I have had my Canon SD890IS Power Shot Digital Camera for a little over a year now, and I can honestly say its the best digital I have owned  (This is my fourth one).     There are many great features, but there are a few that truly stand out.    First,  The size of the camera is small enough where I can take photos with one hand and still have great pics.    Coupled with that is the picture stabilization feature,  reducing the number of blurred photos. Third, I love the versatile settings available...and the ease of changing from one setting to another.   I also love the high quality photos that come  at the max 10 mp. There are a few minor things that I find frustrating.   First,  in auto setting,  night pictures tend to be blurry.  I compensate for that by going to manual setting, and using a higher ISO.    I also find that flash photos also tend to be a bit blurry...I actually do better without flash, but higher ISO.     One other nice feature is the button that enables you to switch from camera view to view of pics already shot. This allows for quick decisions on whether or not to keep a photo, and (if not) allowing time to take another without delay or missed opportunity.  Now, granted, other models I have owned have also had some of the same features.    But,  the canon has the most features...and the batteries tend to last much longer.
