I bought this camera to replace my SD400 which I had a broken LCD after I accidently smashed it. To my disappointment the face recognition on SD770 doesn't detect well, so alot of times, it focus on the wrong spots, and the image came out blurry. It's difficult to get the face recognition/focus to work on the spots that you want, so you have to repress the button many times to try to get it to detect right. It does have the function to set it to always focus on the center, but it beats the purpose of having face recognition. I like the outdoor photos taken from my SD400 better even though it has lower megapixals. The sky and green came out much nicer tone on my SD400. SD770 also doesn't do well in low light setting, but that is to be expected of a point and shoot camera. The quality of the video is average and sometimes quite grainy. The good parts about this camera is that it is lightweight and compact, so that it is easy to carry around.

I bought my first camera from canon like a year back. It is the master piece of all other brand. Cybershot is really easy to use take great quality of pics doesnt matter what are you capturing a moving object or stable object. It has given me a memorable moments all the time I can have access to it as canon is just amazing. I guess they have the lightest weight products as well in the market.

A good compact digital camera.

The PowerShot SD770 is a good camera for what it is meant to be. If you are looking for something to take with you lots of places or just be able to take out quickly to get shots, it will do what you need. The image quality is not professional but it is good for this type of camera. The same can be said about the movie mode, though that is a little on the lower end of the quality spectrum than the photos. In bright light, the camera works very well and gets good shots but starts to suffer in low light. There are ways around these disadvantages in the manual mode but all of the options are pretty well hidden and I have to dig around each time I want to change something like the shutter speed or ISO speed. It is supposed to have image stabilization but I have never used it. The flash is nice and bright and there are lots of settings to adjust it but again some of them are hard to find. The viewing screen on the back is good and gives an accurate picture of what you are shooting. For a compact digital camera without a lot of frills, this is a good deal.

Cannon powershot SD770 IS: great quality

5

I LOVE this camera. I originally owned a Nikon coolpix, it was an ok camera until I had my son. I needed a camera that takes good quality pictures fast. The time it took before I was able to take another picture seemed like forever, and by time it snapped the picture my son was already across the room. The Cannon Powershots SD770 IS is perfect. It snaps pictures fast, I can acually capture what I want to before my son moves. Also the time in between taking the next picture is very fast, which is exactly what I wanted.  I normally like to use the biggest image size that is available for the best quality. I also like to have the date stamp on all of my photos so when I print them out and put them in albums it is a lot easier to keep all of the same month/year pictures together.  The time/date stamp is only available in one image size M3 1600 x 1200. Yes the pictures still come out great, but I just wish the date stamp was available on all of the image sizes, I like to have a variety.  The battery life is terrific, I can not remember the last time I had to charge the battery, it lasts that long.  I have had this camera for 2 years now and still works perfectly.

love my camera

I love my Canon PowerShot SD770 IS digital camera.  I have had a few different types of digital cameras, but my last two have been Canon digital cameras.  They have been far better than any of the others I have had.  I liked my Minolta film camera because it was waterproof and provided other great features, but the picture quality was no where near as great as my Canon digital cameras.  My Canon PowerShot SD770 has a lithium battery that lasts a long time.  I charge it occasionally when I think I may be using it a lot in the near future and do not want it to get low.  The zoom is great on the PowerShot SD770 camera.  The flash is great on it too.  I wish I could snap continuosly with it though.  This is a negative of having a point and shoot camera, but is the same with all point and shoot cameras.  There is a setting to snap quickly, but it is nothing like a fancy camera that clicks instantly.  The screen on the back is a great size and easy to see through for snapping pictures and reviewing pictures.

***This was a gift from my son.  I have taken photography classes in the past and have entered several of my photos in contests.   I used to use an SLR camera, but since the digitals have come on the market that produce some nice quality photos, I thought I would give them a try.   At first I purchased an HP digital camera and then tried out a Kodak camera, but the Canon SD770 that my son bought me is much more compact and takes excellent pics.   I love that I can stick it in my pocket book and have it with me all the time...........always looking for that great shot!***

Ok camera, video good

I am a Canon person. Almost every camera I have ever had has been a canon. I had an earlier model similar to this camera but it started to show signs of wear, especially on the digital screen and the mega pixels were only 4 or 5.  I found this camera on clearance and decided to give it a shot since it was double the megapixels and took movies.  Almost from the beginning I was dissapointed in the camera and preferred to use the older version. I have found the printed photos look "off" compared to the lesser megapixeled camera. I have shot pictures in various modes and have yet to really print off a great picture from this camera.  What I have been pleased about is the ability to create movies with the camera. The sound and clarity of the movies is much better than the previous model. We have been able to document a lot of wonderful moments with this camera.  So it gets a thumbs up for the video aspect, but only a so so for the actual pictures the camera captures.

My Canon SD770 is amazing!

This was my first digital camera purchase, and I have LOVED this camera! I bought my little Canon for a trip to Mexico as I wanted something small and light that I could just slip in my bag without a lot of extra bulk.  I am NOT a photographer in an way, shape or form so also wanted something fairly easy to operate. This has been the perfect camera for me!!!  What sold me hands down was the quailty of pictures.  In Mexico, some of my favorite pictures were taken on a boat tour in very choppy water.  I took pictures of my friends on our boat, pictures of views and even sea creatures we saw in the water or perched on rocks, etc.  My pictures all came out clear (no blur) whether they were taken in bright sunshine or in a shadowy area.  The amazing colors were captured beautifully, and even zooming from a distance on a small bird (keep in mind I was on a rocking boat), came out crystal clear ... even when enlarged to an 8x10 size. When I got home, I told all of my friends they needed to buy this camera as it was AMAZING!
