i love my elph, more since i figured out the manual settings. the auto doesn't always take good shots, and the shutter speed is sometimes slow. i took it with me on a 6 week trip overland from finland to macau. i got some amazing photographs with this camera and didn't have to lug around a big heavy camera. the pocket convenience made up for a lot. sometimes, indoors the camera would blur without flash, but overexpose with flash. tricky. not to mention, flash is not allowed in many museums. i'd recommend using a tripod when possible. also had some problems with animal photography. my panda pictures were a bit spotty.
on the whole, i'm planning to upgrade before my next big trip, but this is a great camera to introduce yourself to manual settings, and the slim design is a winner. my camera received a number of design compliments.
