Excellent camera, many features and dependable!

5

I have owned this camera for 2 years and just love it. It is very dependable. I carry it everywhere with me. I sometimes do not treat it in the best manner, but it takes the beating and keeps working perfectly. I love the ability to take fast continous shots. This is one of the faster cameras out there for the price.

I absolutely LOVE it!

My Hubby got this camera for me for my birthday last year.  He did a lot of reseach on cameras at that time.  This is the perfect camera for me.  It is so easy to use, and it's small enough to cary around with me most places.   I have a new son so it's important that I have the camera with me to capture those "firsts" moments.  I also don't have a lot of time, and the photos are so easy to download to my PC.  The software that comes with it is simple to use and easy to upload.    I have been very pleased with this camera overall and it fits my needs perfectly.

Excellent features for the price you pay, for every photographer

5

The price you pay for this camera is phenomenal for the features you get in return. It has every feature you would ever need from a digital camera -- wide screen, fun options, and excellent output. For even the remotely avid photographers, the quality is great and it is definitely user-friendly. If you're an amateur, you can just point and shoot... if you're feeling a little daring, the camera offers many manual features to play with.Unless you plan on blowing up a picture to fit a mural, the 7.1 MP makes any picture of almost any size look perfect.

Canon SD550 Delivers Great Pictures After Small Learning Curve

5

Canon - PowerShot SD550 Digital Camera Using a range of film and digital cameras I've had some success with pictures in the past, but I'm far from an expert. But since 1997 this camera has really helped me upgrade the quality of my pictures. Out of the box this camera provides some really good pictures and features. In general it is easy to use and produces some really great pictures. I've ordered digital prints from a few different online photo printers and have always been pleased with the results. The construction of the camera gas proven solid and has endured a number of trips (and kids). A nice bonus is the ability to take video clips. They aren't high quality but have been very useful in catching spontaneous moments on trips and with friends. One thing to be aware of: the features and instructions are daunting. I realized I needed to understand more for better pictures (low light, close ups, et. al). During a long train trip I had the opportunity to learn "some" of the features and was pleased, but the effort needed and the controls on the camera are still not as intuitive as I would like. On the video feature, the audio records with a phase that swishes in and out which takes away some of the appeal. **Pros:** - Compact, stylish, affordable, Point and shoot, very simple to use, small **Cons:** - Custom picture settings could be easier **Conclusion:**Even with a few caveats, I wouldn't hestite recommending this or probably any subsequent version of this Canon Powershot line. It has proven to be a trusted companion for many trips and events (and hopefully many more).

One of the best ever

This was one of my first big-ticket purchases. I am kinda picky and took me a while to settle on a camera. I chose this one, and I was not disappointed. In fact, this camera probably made me a lifetime Canon fan. The megapixels are not too high, but the features make up for it. There is alot of ways to spruce up your pictures, many settings to use, and the menus are fairly easy to navigate.  It may take a day or two of use to figure it out, but once you do it, you will use it for life. The camera is a good size, and feels good in the hand. The rigid construction allows for a firm grip, and the loop that comes with it is good to make sure it doesn't slip out for any reason.  Overall, I think even though it is an older model, it would still be comparable to some of the models being released now. The shell is a goldish metallic color, which stands out.  The screen is a bit on the smaller side, and the megapixels is a bit lower than the ones available now. However, the design is classic and photos are decent.  I'd recommend this as a used camera.

Love this camera!

The Canon - PowerShot has been my best "point and shoot" camera yet! And I've been through several. It is completely user-friendly, and makes it easy to take amazing photos. As a young adult trying to build a savings, I usually do not spend extra money to buy name brand products. However, I have always been partial to Canon, and this camera is great value for the price! My favorite things to photograph are food, flowers, scenics, and people... and the PowerShot is perfect for taking those types of photos! They say a camera doesn't make the photographer, but it definitely helps! I've tried other cameras, but without a doubt my photos turn out better with this one. Thanks to this little camera, I've gotten many compliments on my photos and views on my blogs. :)  Oh, and I  also want to mention... I use it almost every day!! Even though I've had the camera for over 3 years, it still works as well as the day I bought it!

Former Nikon devotees, now we're Canon people

This camera is great.  My husband has always been a Nikon man in his past days as a professional photographer, but he used my mother's Rebel a few times during visits and decided that we should make the switch.  It has been a very good camera to us.  It is not foolproof and takes some knowledge of the equipment to get the really great shots, but as an everyday DSLR it's great.  We have gotten some amazing shots of our 1-year old son and have had people ask us who did the photo session, and are amazed when I say that my husband took the pictures.  Even *I *manage to get some amazing shots with my limited knowledge of DSLR operation.  It is well worth the price.

This camera makes it easy for anyone to take great pictures!

As a mom of two active toddlers, I've spent many hours chasing them to try to capture moments in photos.  This Canon Rebel digital camera makes my job so much easier!  I only use the basic lens that came with the camera, and I'm sure that all of the powerful features of the awesome camera are lost on me.  But the difference in the pictures before and after I purchased this camera is huge.  The quick shutter speed and low-light options make taking indoor pictures without a flash actually possible.  Before, I either had to use a flash (which washed out the kids) or the pictures turned out slightly grainy or blurry. But now, I can just use the natural light from the windows to capture beautiful pictures of my kids.  The camera can also be set to take a triple shot, so even when they're running around and moving quickly (which is always!), at least one of the pictures will turn out great.  It is also quick and easy to hook the camera up to the computer with the included USB cable to upload pictures. I highly recommend this camera, especially to busy moms of active kids.  It's easy to use and makes it simple to take great pictures that will make those precious moments last.

Great Quality

5

I love photography but have always loved film photography and was very skeptical toward digital photography.  Many of my friends were making the transition to digital but I held tight to my belief there was no way to get quality images in a digital camera and there was no convincing me otherwise. I held on to my regular Cannon Rebel film camera for years until my husband got me one for my birthday.  I was excited about the gift but knew I couldn't return it so I gave it a shot.  I WILL NEVER go back to regular film.  I kept my Cannon Rebel film camera. It is safe on a self but has not been used in 3 years.  I absolutely love my Cannon Digital camera.  Of course all of the wonderful qualities of getting to view the pictures after taking them and uploading to computers and all of the other great features, I did not have to give up my quality!  I was not looking forward to learning how to work something new after years with the old one but the settings were the same as my old and after a few shots it was so easy to function.  I would recommend the Cannon Digital Rebel to everyone, professional or not.

The Canon EOS Rebel T2i w18-55mm lens is a dream come true!

I am a novice who picked up a smaller Canon years ago.  It was so much fun taking pictures that competed against my friends high cost cameras.  Now after dropping my old Canon into the Sea of Cortez I found myself looking for a new, something better, camera.  Well what do you know...I found the Canon that would take me to new heights.  I suspect (know reallly) that there are more costly cameras out there.  But they are designed for professional people whos life work has to have the uppermost abillities to earn them money all of the time! I love the ability to take HD video.  I enjoy the features that allow me to choose easily what type of photo I wish to take, switch the buttons and levers, and the camera does the work for me.  When I want to 'design' my own photo, this camera allows me to make settings all on my own and suited to my taste.  It is the best of both worlds for close ups, as well as the far away scenes I want to capture. So you can tell that I am not technical, but I know what I like.  And I like discovering that there are so many ways to capture a scene; trying a few of them; and getting instant results on the large cameral screen.  Of course I can erase them...the ones I do not like and no one but me knows the difference!  The instant focus is great for the quick shots that come up sometimes where you need to hurry fast to take the photo (like the jet overhead).  For the shots you want to focus for yourself all you have to do is change the focus to manual and get the precise shot you want. I am happy with my purchase and am excited to put more effort into my picture taking.  I have the time now that I am retired, and will persue this hobby with a smile on my face.  Who knows, maybe you'll see a picture of mine sometime and not know that it was me, a novice, who had the right Canon at the right time to find a bit of wonder and catch it for everyone to enjoy!
