Canon - PowerShot SD400 Digital Camera Review Summary

Canon scores again with the PowerShot. Camera reviewers like this handy little point and shoot digital camera that is small but takes great pictures. The PowerShot doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the SLR professional digital cameras, but many amateur photographers never switch out of automatic mode on the expensive digital cameras. If you want to take great family photos and save and share your memories, consumers who bought this high rated digital camera say it’s a great little camera.

I am photo-obsessed and order lots of prints. So, having a camera that I really like is essential. This is my second digital camera and I love it. The shots are quick and there is not a lot of delay between the shots. I love the ease of it, the small size and how easy it is to use/upload images. If… read full review »

This is a great camera for everyday use, very compact and lightweight.  My only complaint is the delay in taking a picture, and also the delay in between taking consecutive pictures.  Many perfect moments are lost in those split second delays. — I also wish there were more… read full review »

I admit it, I tend to be one of "those" people.  You know the ones who constantly have a camera at what to you may seem like the most dreadful moments.  Yet, two weeks later after the picture has circulated, you can laugh out loud about that moment!  My friends always thank me later.  :) — This camera is my key to success.  It's compact, light, easy to use and fits right in my purse or pocket.  By comparison, it's about the same size as a deck of cards, maybe smaller.  With options for nighttime, manual, indoor, outdoor, even kids (who knew there was a… read full review »

So..Before I recieved my Canon as a gift from my Mother, I had a Kodak, and before that a Sony. I loved my Sony - it was a $500.00 compact camera that took excellent pictures and was easy to use (espescially when switching from flash, video, effects, or panoramic). What had happened with that is my then 2 year old son got a hold of it and dunked it in a puddle of water forcing myself to buy a budget camera for school (online art classes) until I could I afford another wonderful shooter. Well, every parent knows that actually buying expensive products and risking them to the abuse of our young… read full review »

First off, I'll start with the one downside to this product: its battery life --- although not too short, it will only last for about 200 pics or maybe 75 vids. — But other than that, the image and video qualities are incredible! It has the most speedy and easy-to-use functionality of any <7 megapixel camera i've ever used, and its modes are simple and versatile: especially the night mode, which makes fireworks come out great, and also can grab the background images in a dark setting --- which is almost nonexistent with other brands. — For anyone who needs a fairly inexpensive and… read full review »

The Canon PowerShot SD400 Digital ELPH was unveiled as part of Canon's wide ranging digital camera announcements at this year's Photo Marketing Association tradeshow. The Canon SD400 is a lot like an SD-card based version of the prior PowerShot S400 in Canon's popular, diminutive Digital ELPH camera line. The Canon SD400 and SD500 models both offer extremely unusual (and frankly, rather cool) "My Color" modes that allow you to selectively replace any color in your photo with a different one, or to make the image black and white with the exception of a single color. The Canon PowerShot SD400… read full review »

I have not had good luck with cameras lately, this being my third one in about 2 years.  I am certain that I have finally found something that will work for me.  The small size makes it very easy to carry in my pocket, the large screen on the back is great, and the speed it uploads onto my computer is the best I have seen yet.  I also like all of the little extras that are on the camera.  My youngest daughter really enjoys the paint option.  I have also found the slideshow option to be very handy when I am sharing pictures with others.  The background music adds… read full review »

I've had this camera for several years and absolutely love it.  It is very durable and has lasted through multiple drops, spills, and environmental conditions.  It is about the same size as a deck of cards or a pack of cigarettes so it is easy to drop it in your pocket and take it everywhere.  It is packed with more features than I ever use.  I can typically fit about 1800 pictures on a 1 GB SD card and still have good picture size and resolution.  I recently recommended a newer model of the Canon camera to my employer.  I have taken great action pictures of my… read full review »

With so many digital camera choices out on the market, it's often hard to know which one to pick! — While our technology choices are often so specialized and subjective--because of different preferences, monetary constraints, lifestyle pace, etc--I feel like this is one product that would appease even the pickiest of picture takers as it is SO easy to use!! — I didn't even have to read the instruction manual to start immediately taking and previewing my pictures! — Besides its ease-of-use, it's light-weight, compact, sturdy, and slips into a purse or pocket so that… read full review »

This was my first digital camera ever.  It was a pretty cool gadget.  I carried with me to every "picture moment" ocassion as possible.  This camera is good for my used because it fit in my purse and enjoy having a camera handy.  However, there is a slight fustration when adjustment is not right, I can't figured out what cause it but it won't take picture if there's a focus problem or images present is blurry.  Nonetheless, it's not like I'm a professional photographer, but with this camera I could capture a serious picture perfect. —… read full review »

Our in-depth review of the Sigma DP1. It's been a long wait indeed. Sigma displayed a first concept prototype of the DP1 at Photokina 2006 but it took until March of this year for the first production models to hit the shelves. The DP1 sports the rather unusual Foveon X3 sensor (just like the Sigma SD14 DSLR) and comes with a 28mm F4.0 prime lens - quite an exotic combination in today's world of superzooms and smile modes. Sigma claims the new model has the soul of a DSLR in a compact body. Is it right in saying so? Find out after the… read full review »

I absolutely love my powershot digital camera by Cannon. It is nice & small that it fits in my purse so I always have it when I need it. Everyone always comments on how big the screen is for such a small camera when I  use it. The pictures come out great and the zoom gets close up pictures. LOVE IT! —  I bring it to parties, to the soccer field and capture the kids playing in the yard. It a small camera but it takes great pictures and captures important moments in our life. —… read full review »

Software can help with redeye reduction so pictures are certainly fixable. I like that it fits in your pocket, yet the buttons are big enough to push.  Would recommend for someone wanting to capture lots of activities.  Didn't do too well in evening light, but it might have been me not knowing how to use the camera...had some fuzzy shots.  Extremely easy to transfer photos from the camera to the computer.  Not so many buttons and settings that make many cameras hard to use.… read full review »

The Powershot SD 400 is a great little camera. Very easy to use and the functions are easy to learn. It takes really nice pictures. Theres indicators so you know exactly when youre ready to shoot.  The Play back and erasing are fast and easy. The menus and settings on the camera itself is easy to read and select. To turn the flash off and on was a bit tricky but after awhile youll get use to it. The erasing and play back function is great and easy. — … read full review »
