Before buying this camera, I had originally bought a Kodak Easy Share 8MP. That was a great camera, but it lacked one of the most important features to me- a quick shutter speed. As the mother of a two year-old, it can often be hard to get a good candid shot because of my daughter's short attention span. With the Kodak, she would look at the camera and smile, but by the time the picture was taken, she would have already looked away. I had that camera for 3 weeks and did not get one decent picture of her, which was disappointing because her birthday fell within that time frame.
I went online and read several reviews, and the Canon PowerShot Digital Elph 7MP stood out to me as a great camera with a very fast shutter speed. So I exchanged the Kodak for one, and I have been very pleased! I have been able to get many wonderful pictures of my daughter since owning the Canon! I also like it because it is very small, it is relatively easy to use, and it has a long battery life. Also, you can switch the video format depending on whether you are going to email your videos or not, so that it adjusts the file size accordingly (although this is slightly complicated). Overall though, it takes beautiful pictures and I highly recommend it!
