GREAT camera

5

I had been waiting years and years for a camera like this to come out. It has the form of a point and shoot, but the function of a SLR (limited). The ring on the front of the camera near the lens has many functions you can assign to it such as aperture/ISO/shutter speed. The ability to override an automatic feature and set these yourself gives your pictures a special touch that comes out looking much more professional than a regular point and shoot. The screen on the back is big and crisp and it's easy to browse functions using it. I love the low-light setting on this camera in particular because it picks up a LOT of ambient light... sometimes shooting outside with a longer exposure (but still short enough for handheld) turns my pic into daytime like magic! I would definitely recommend this camera for anyone who wants to take higher-end point and shoot pics.

Average powerrshot camera

5

The Canon - Powershot S90 Digital Camera is only average at best. Even though it may have great image quality that has the pictures just pop out at you, an extremely easy to use interface that a baby could operate, and packed with tons of features..wait. Nevermind this camera is amazing! Along with these amazing features it also has a fast f/2 lense, full manual control, and is very resonably priced for all! The only downsides to this camera are minor however. The caneras flash often gets stuck easily if it is pressed on with too much force. The slippery surface of the camera can also be problematic at times, and the screen scratches extremely easily with the use of a screen protector. The loose wheel is also a problem as it shifts when you're not even using it! The last issue with the camera however lies with the viewfinder, as this is most important allong people to gaze the through the cameras lense. Other than these the camera is a great buy!

Love this camera

I got this camera for Christmas last year and it was my favorite gift. The camera is very compact so I can take it everywhere I go without much of a hassle. There are many professional features built into this that are very useful for great pictures. Good aperture settings and the quality of my pictures are amazing. The buttons on the camera are really nicely spaced so it's more convenient for large hands. What I really like about this camera is that it feels really sturdy. It has a nice weight to it and the outer shell is a very solid plastic, not thin or light like other cameras. It's a good camera to use if you know how to adjust the settings because I find manual mode doesn't do my pictures justice most of the time, but that's just my opinion.

This canon Powershot s90 is super good!

This camera is good due to their size and their function. Eventhough this camera is small and The Canon S90 IS THE BEST point&shoot camera I've ever owned. It is capable of shooting magazine quality images. In fact some of the images I've shot with it WERE published in magazines (I'm a professional photographer. I use it as a pocket cam when I don't want to lug my DSLR around) I'm only selling my S90 because I have tons of cameras sitting around. It takes REALLY great photos... especially in dark situations and macro situations. I'll post up photos that I've taken with my S90 later. My S90 shoots really GREAT videos too. I shot a viral video of the Lexus LFA with it; that video spread virally through TONS of huge automotive websites and got the attention of Lexus North America.

The camera is nice and compact - definitely small enough to slip into a pocket or purse. It operates quickly and takes good shots. The S9 is also one of the cheaper, high quality ultra-compact cameras that you'll find. Unfortunately, with the money that you save, I would recommend that you get a spare battery since the battery life of the camera is not amazing. It would probably make it through a weekend vacation, but that's about it. The camera is definitely not meant for an advanced shooter, or someone who wants to tweak settings until they get just the right shot. There are no manual exposure controls, so you're stuck with adjusting white balance, sensitivity (ISO), exposure compensation, or using the built in scene modes. However, I would still recommend the S9 for someone looking for an ultra-compact camera with some style and an affordable price. The camera is good for snapshots, and the one touch button to access Nikon's portrait mode with Face Priority AF provides quick access to the optimal settings to capture your friends having a great time. **Pros** - Good image quality - Nice size and attractive styling - Good price for an ultra-compact **Cons** - Disappointing battery life - Red tones challenged the camera - Loud zoom motor

Great photos in a small package.

For a pocketable camera, the S90 has nearly everything that I'm looking for. One thing that's always frustrated me with compact point-and-shoot cameras is the lack of full manual controls and actually having the ability to control the shot how I want it. Too often I'm left to the mercy of the cameras and micro-chips deciding how my pictures should look instead of my natural creative talents. A camera's not really a camera unless if it unleashes your ability to somewhat have control and create your final shot. The S90 delivers on all those accounts. I'm able to pre-set focal lenghts, focus-zones, and on a whim, customize how my photo should look. Regarding images, except when shooting at higher-ISO's, the images are great up to ISO 400. If you're expecting images that have depth to them, like what you'll see from micro-four-thirds and larger sensors, you will end up dissapointed. For a camera it's size, though, it really delivers.

Great Camera

5

I got this camera about a year ago. I was looking for a camera that was more than a point and shot but not all the way up there with the DSLRs. I got just what I was looking for! This camera takes great pictures in low-light settings the quality is great! I also love the look of the camera. However one thing that I do not love about the camera is its size. However, it is still small enough to fit in my purse and its not too heavy. One other thing that is a little wierd about the camera is the flash that pops up. For people who have not used this camera before get a little confused when the flash pops up from the top of the camera. I have also noticed that when other people take pictures with my camera, they tend to have a hard time pushing the botton all the way to take a picture. Howver, I have never had any problems with that. The functions are easy to use and it takes great videos as well. Overall I love this camera and Canon in general.

classic point and shoot camera

5

I have not buy a pocket point and shoot camera for a while, my previous one was a Canon s230 point and shoot from 2003. Most of the time I shoot with my DSLR, the current one I have is a Nikon D80. Canon s90 definitely performed well to shoot as a compliment for my Nikon DSLR, I know the theory and the logic behind photography, so I really don't need the fancy functions such as double LCD (front and back like some of the Samsungs) or some other fancy stuff. All I need is a pocketable camera that takes good pictures. It really can get the job done! The picture quality is good enough, maybe not as good as my DSLR, but it's definitely better than most of the point and shoot out there. It has a F2.0 lens as well as a 28-105mm zoom, the big aperature just gives you so much more of light to work with in the low-light settings. The manual operation is quite smooth and intuitive. In some occasion you want to shoot casually, this gives you focus more on the subject instead of thinking behind the viewfinder, toggling the function menu and try to figure out how are you going to shoot. Overall, I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone!

Canon S90- Best point and shoot camera out there

5

Im not an avid photographer or anything, but have owned over 5 cameras over the last 10 years.  I generally purchase simple point and shoot cameras such as the SD110 and the SD 550,  I can tell you that the S90 is by far and way the best point and shoot camera on the market.  I did a ton of research prior to purchasing this camera.  The low light picture taking is great as are all the available functions.   The body is sleek, maybe a little too slippery, and the wheel on the back panel is a bit loose, but once you are used to it, youll see just how great this little camera is! The S90 shares a lot of common components with the bigger G11.  The G11 is also tauted as one of the best cameras out there. The battery life seems good.  I have gotten close to 200 pictures on one charge.  I wish the video mode had an HD option but it does not. I believe the S95 has this option.  Overall, this camera has made me extremely happy, allowing me to take great images of nature, rockets, skylines, and much more.

SLR-like Compact

5

I have an SLR (Canon Digital Rebel XT), but I wanted a smaller camera to carry around for general use (the SLR is quite large, especially with extra lenses). After searching online, the S90 looked perfect. It is compact but takes brilliant pictures. The lens quality is fantastic. Additionally, its automatic mode is far better than you would find on SLRs so you can take quick pictures without thinking about them (useful at parties and events). My friends are very impressed by the photos that I have taken and cannot tell that they have not come from a more expensive camera. However, as a forewarning, the S95 has recently come out. This is and upgraded version of the S90. Its main benefits are better lens and 720p video (the s90 only has 640x480 video). Still, if you are looking for a cheaper camera a used s90 will do you proud (but an s95 would too ;) ). I highly recommend this camera to you
