I am not hi tech and don't pretend to be. I just want a camera that takes great pictures with a push of a button. Another words, I don't want a camera that I have to do adjust or do anything except snap and enjoy my pictures. I love this camera and while it is to big to carry in my handbag, it works so well that it is worth the effort to carry it with me. I have a inexpensive Cannon and I like it for carrying just to have a camera with me for those shots I don't want to miss but for quality this Cannon is tops and for the price cannot be beat. Image Quality This camera will really spoil you for quality. Basically this is a point and shoot type of camera but it comes at the high end of quality.. With this camera I can take photo in less than perfect lighting and the camera adjusts the light automatically. I find that I can take photos inside without the flash and they come out clear and no red eye. Performance This camera offers a lot of the hi tech options without the cost. To date, I have not used the video option. For me, it is a multifunction point and shoot camera. It has the extra's that the more expensive cameras offer but it is basically a high end point and shoot camera that is exceptionally easy to use. . Ease of Use This camera is powerful with a 12x Zoom lens and offers high resolution pictures when you want a larger size print. I like not having red eyes when the flash is used. Durability Based on the quality of Canon and that I have never had a problem with their cameras holding up, I would highly recommend this camera. Battery Life I have a tendency to forget to charge the camera and then we decide to go somewhere and that means camera probably will need to be charged. The good news - the battery charges quick and can be used in a very short time. Portability Not as convenient to take with me as my other cheap Canon camera but with a little planning it fits in a tote or common

Initially I bought this camera to take photos of products to sell online, and at the time it worked fairly well for that. Now, a little better resolution is needed for product images. It has way more features than I have ever used, and even though I've flipped through the manual, the buttons and screens are not very intuitive, and so I just stick to the basics of what I know how to do. A few years after I bought it the screen fizzled out and it would not take pictures. I thought all was lost, but then found out that this was a common problem and Canon would fix it for free. Sure enough, despite my hesitation, I sent them my camera and they fixed it and returned it within a couple of weeks. It worked fine for a year or so more, and then the flash died. It makes an awful popping sound if you try to use it. There is no way to attach an external flash, so I am out of luck there. The camera still works fine in natural light though.

I have had this camera for a couple of years.  I researched several before making the purchase and at the time, this camera had the highest megapixels and largest zoom.  This camera takes excellent pictures and videos.  The zoom is great.  The only problem I have had is that I get several blurry pictures, which I never had a problem with before on my other cameras.  WIsh it had an action setting.  I tried adjusting the manual settings and that helps a bit, but then the pictures come out grainy.

I'm not an expert when it comes to technology or photography, but my love of scrapbooking urged me to part with my film and go digital. I was hestitant at first, but after I bought my Canon S2 IS, I have never been happier. Not only have I been able to take more photos, but I've learned all kinds of new techniques with color, speed and lighting and I couldn't have done it without such an user-friendly camera.

My hubby purchased the PowerShot S2 IS camera for me last Christmas, and I have been able to take great pictures. I have several 8 X 10's. The auto mode takes really great pictures. I can change the ISO speed. The continuous shooting is great during a baseball game.

This camera has all the options a novice/intermediate digital camera user needs. It still has options that I haven't even gotten to after a year of owning it. I love that there are so many settings depending on where/when you are taking pictures. For example it has: beach, snow, night, fireworks, etc.Flash is easy on/off and I don't get much red eye in my pictures.It is just as easy to download the pictures to my computer without any special software.Although it is a little bulkie at times, it has so much to offer that i look beyond that all the time.

Great camera, with exceptional macros! One downside is that in low light, the pictures are often shaky and blurry.  The colors are very good, and it has a good range of aperture and shutter speed settings.  Also, several fun things you can do on the camera, such as graying out everything but 1 certain color. Awesome camera overall!

Canon has delivered a simple to use and high quality camera for a great price.  The special features on the camera allow for flexible picture taking without a lot of camera knowledge.  I was impressed with the ease of use for changing options and viewing pictures.The Canon S2 IS takes high quality photos that can be cropped and still retains great quality. The pictures can be blown up to large sizes without losing the quality. One negative comment is the camera is lousy at taking action shots.  The video camera function on is great also. I did not think I would use that feature as often as I have.The optical zoom feature is also outstanding. The optical zoom has made the difference between great pictures and subpar pictures. The digital zooms just can't compete.  Overall I would highly recommend this camera.

My husband is the camera saavy person in the family who does all the research with specifications and numbers, comparing features and prices, but since I am the one who uses the camera most, I figure my opinion is still valid!I love this camera!  While I haven't read the manual or used half of the features, I can attest that it takes great pictures and great video.  We didn't plan on the video being so great, so we bought a video camera as well, though we use the video on this camera much more!  I love the flip and swivel screen.  It has allowed us to get great pictures of things that were at an awkward angle from us.The only complaint I have is that every once in a while buttons will get bumped and leave the camera in a mode that takes pictures with lower resolution.  I wish I could disable the smaller picture feature or make it so it is obvious that I am shooting in lower resolution.  I never know until I upload the pictures and see they are not large.

So the S2Is is the camera that I replased with a T2i. If you aren't ready to go to the DSLR camera, this is as close as you can get to that without actually having a DSLR. I got this camera because of the optical zoom. It is INCREDIBLE. Cameras with high digital zooms only are pointless. The picures always come out looking all blurry. This has a great optical zoom so you can get right into the action. The only problems that I have with this camera are the lense cover and speed of shooting. The lense cover isn't attached. I lost it. Wish I could find it. No idea where it is. It shoudl be attached. WHy can't we attach a simple lense cover to a camera in this day and age. My other problem with it is that if teh subject that you are shooting is moving too quickly, you will get blurry pictrues. I have tried all sorts of settings, but never get god fast action shots. Howevr, if you want a Pre dslr camra, this is the one for you!
