Love this camera

I got this camera to replace another one I bought that had horrible picture quality. That is definitely not the case with this model. The pictures always come out so smooth and brilliant in color. It can take an odd shot in bad lighting and create a masterpiece. There are many different settings to accomodate any level of photographer. There is a very easy to navigate menu. The picture taking button is easy to press and does not need to be held down for two seconds causing a delay, making it much easier to capture those priceless moments in a flash. It is a very durable camera that can withstand being manhandled. There is a decent amount of zoom on the lens. The body itself is easy to hold with one hand due to the ergonomic design. This is a camera I would definitely recommend to anyone for their everyday photo taking and even higher level photography. Battery Life Lasts for a long time.

I love my Canon Camera!

5

I love my Canon PowerShot A590 Digital Camera. I have owned it for about 6 years now and at first it belonged to my kids who used it constantly and loved it but then eventually another kid dropped it in the sand and now the lens doesn't close so it became a hand-me-up for me. In spite of the fact that the lens doesn't close (Through no fault of its own), the camera is great. It takes good shots of action photos and it has a great macro function that lets you see things closer than you can really see them in real life. If your eyes are getting old, I swear you can use the A590 macro function to see things better than without the camera. The shutter lag time, (the time between when I push the button and when it takes the photo) is pretty decent for a digital camera. This is one of my main complaints with digital cameras and the Canon PowerShot A590 has a decently fast shutter speed. In fact one of the Canon's that my daughter upgraded to is way worse than my Canon PowerShot A590 and hers is only 3 years old. The drawbacks to the camera are that you have to open a little door each time you need to get the SD Card in or out so that is a wear point and a bit of a hassle. On the upside the camera takes only two triple A batteries so even though they don't last as long I just use rechargeables and they end up being really cheap to run the camera with. I don't have to buy it a special kind of battery either. My daughter likes the dial function that lets her set her own settings or I just use it on automatic since I don't know much more than point and shoot.

Pretty good camera for the inexperienced.

If you are a casual photographer this may be a pretty good camera for you. It is also great for amateur photographers who want a simple to use camera. The picture quality is nice, but nothing extremely great. The camera speed is also pretty good, but again nothing spectacular. The size is nice and easy to fit in a pocket. It is very easy camera to use. The features are very self explanatory. The price is a little high, but there is sometimes a good deal on it. Image Quality It takes good clear pictures, but it doesn't have as many megapixels as some other high end cameras. Performance This camera performs very well for casual users. It is pretty fast, but again it doesn't compete against some of the other higher end cameras. Ease of Use This is a very easy camera to use. The features are easy to understand. Reading the manual should be enough to get by. Durability It should last a long time as long as it is properly taken care of. Battery Life The battery life is not very good. You will probably need to charge it before every outing. Portability It is a very easy to carry camera and fits nice in your pocket.

Decent budget camera

4

I've owned this camera for a few years and overall I like it. i've always wanted a DSLR but they're expensive and so I settled with a budget camera for now. The picture quality is pretty good and it can take huge pictures if you plan on using it for making your own prints. I do a lot of Photoshop work and its easy to edit images because they're so big and I can re-size them down to whatever I need. The main problem with this camera is in low light situations. Both videos and pictures come out very grainy when using at night or in low light situations in the house. The video also isn't HD but it does come out okay for the price of this camera.

Easy to use and is durable

This camera was my brothers, but from my experience handling it, it was relatively easy to use with the regular functions of a point and shoot camera including zoom, landscape setting, macro setting, fast moving setting, etc. The only bad part is that it does require batteries and is a little bit bulkier compared to others.

Good starter for digital photographers.

Easy to use. User can select various options such as indoor, outdoor, auto flash, kids, etc. Also can choose to select settings on your own or set it at automatic so the camera does all the work for you. Would prefer a camera that has a faster rate of being ready for the next shot. Overall a good camera for those just getting into using digital photography. Image Quality Good sharp images. Ease of Use Can set various settings or let the camera do it all. Battery Life Tends to use up batteries fairly quick. Canon sells rechargeable batteries that comes with 4 batteries and a charger.

Excellent quality of image for a non-SLR, best of its kind.

An excellent camera for this price range. Image Quality Remarkable image quality. Great scope for enlarging pictures. Performance Reliable, solid design. Ease of Use Really easy to use. Has a variety of pre-set functions to take the best portrait, landscape, action shot or close up possible, for example. Durability Am ashamed to say I have dropped mine many a time and it still works perfectly. Battery Life Takes regular AA batteries, but I would recommend investing in some decent rechargable ones as you will save money in the long run. Portability Relatively small, solid and compact. Will survive being thrown into a handbag full of other stuff very well.

It Is Fun!

I love this thing! This camera is custom made for me! I can take photos using manual mode, or any combination of modes. But, I usually am in a rush or taking photos for on-line or work stuff, where quality is not so important. This camera lets me do it any way I want. It has lots of pre-programmed modes (such as "Landscape" or "Kids & Pets") They are tailored for certain situations. I tested each multiple times. They all work as promised. I can make this camera as complicated or as simple as I want. You can also add lenses or filters in standard sizes.  The memory cards are inexpensive and every brand (and some no brand ones) all had no compatibility issues. I've had cameras that are persnickety about the cards you use. Not this one. My camera is long out of warranty and I still received free tech support with an issue I had with some software. It wasn't a crisis issue: In the manual it tells me to use a certain program for a certain job. i could not get it to work. Tech said you can't use that program on a MAC and gave me an alternative to use. The other software that comes with the camera is mostly useful. I like the Image Browser and the download software. There are a few other "fluff programs I haven't tried. I also like MACRO mode. You can get fairly close to something (2" is about the minimum) and still get a good photo. I use it when I take stuff apart to repair it. then, when I forget how something goes back together- there's the photo. The display on the camera itself is plenty big and clear to view details on photos.  It isn't too rough on Ni-Cad batteries. They last about as long as any camera I've owned. Ni-Mh last a little longer. In an emergency, I've used alkalines and gotten quite a few shots out of them as well.  The wait between photos is at least 2 seconds. But there are work-around tricks. I've not used them, so I can't remember what they are! I guess I'll have to go find out! Yup! It is a good camera.  I can't say it is heavy duty as far as handling goes. I've never torture tested it.  I like it just fine because I can be complicated or simple. It is pretty intuitive to use as well. Image Quality The camera has a bunch of image quality settings. Even the lowest setting is fine for most uses. Performance I have never had a problem with it. Ease of Use Good size & control placement. It is fairly intuitive to use. The manual is well organized & is an actual paper book. Durability I've had it for a few years & nothing's gone wrong. Battery Life To me it seems like a battery eater. But, it could be the brand of battery I use. It does seem to go through the charge faster than my other camera, but I've never paid too much attention. I just keep freshly charged ones available. Portability Fits in my pants pocket.

My Canon digital camera is easy to use and takes great pictures!

5

I received my Canon PowerShot A590 digital camera for Christmas last year, and have really loved it. I poured over reviews on the internet before deciding on this model, and have not been disappointed. Canon makes superior cameras, and this is no exception. It has a large viewing screen, many different settings for outdoor and indoor use and a great flash. I have used the delay timer many times and it has proven to work well. It is very easy to download my pictures onto my computer, and needs nothing more than the USB cord that came with the camera. It takes standard batteries, making it much easier and less costly to use. And best of all, I did not have to pour over the instruction manual to figure out how to use this camera. Most of it was fairly intuitive. I would suggest, however, purchasing a memory card, as the camera does not include a memory card that is very big. It also is not particularily great with action shots, as there is a delay between shots and the camera sets up the next shot. All in all, I would definitely recommend this camera for those of you looking for a easy to use, reliable camera that takes top quality pictures.
