somewhat tech savvy
I reviewed many cameras before making my purchase about two years ago. I am a pet groomer and I wanted a camera that had quickness in turning on and taking a photo. Pets don't have a "stay there" pose. So, that was most important to me in buying this camera. In purchasing it, I found that it did in fact have a quick response time in grabbing it and turning it on and clicking for a photo. I also found that the type of memory card was easy to use at digital printing stands. I really liked the compactness of the camera which I could throw into my small…

loving my digital camera
My Canon Powershot A550 is one of the better digital cameras on the market, This is the second Powershot I've had and like it better than other brands I've used. One of the nicest things about using the Canon this model you use rechargeable batteries anywhere, you aren't limited to the battery packs like the first Powershot G-2 that were very expensive. — Presently I'm photographing the construction on the bridge on RT.441 over Swatara Creek in Middletown. The job Superintenate said he never had an album from start to finish. So I told him I don't mind doing it if he likes…

a comparison shopper, value conscious, pc-user, a busy person, simple is good
I did a fair amount of research online and I think I get the best value for my money with the camera. Taking into consideration price, quality, ease of use and features, I haven't found a better camera than this one--unless you count its new brother, the A570! In fact, I just bought the A570 for my parents--who aren't even comfortable hooking up a VCR. Though I have a bit of experience with electronic things, I am by no means an electronics wiz. Yet I was able to take this right out of the bos and put it to work. It takes great pictures (some of which I have had…

a busy person, cost-conscious, appreciative of good service, willing to pay more for quality, willing to pay for quality
I recently switched to the Canon Powershot A550 when my last camera (not a digital camera) was destroyed due to water damage. I take a lot of outdoor shots of wild birds and other wildlife as a hobby and I have to say that I got clearer shots with my last camera! However, the powershot A550 is far superior for family portraits, close-ups, and other such shots that the average family person would use this camera for. Overall, I like this camera- but if you are looking to do more nature photography, this is not for you. Canon does make a better camera for…

loving my digital camera, an amateur photographer, family's manager of memories
I have had this camera for several months and now I wonder why I never went to digital before. It is easy to focus and shoot. I love getting the pictures developed. You can lighten the picture and zoom in on it while developing which I could never do with the old 35 mm cameras. It is light and fits in my purse so I am always ready to shoot pictures. If this is your first digital camera it is a good one to start with. After you get used to it you might want to get a more elaborate one with more options and a better…

an early adopter, loving my digital camera
Easy to use, produces great pictures, controls are simple. I have four dogs and it gets great shots of them running with little to no distortion of the photo. It's a real pleasure to take this on vacation because I can be confident that the pictures I take will be great. This is my second digital camera and provides a lot better quality picture. Software that comes with the camera makes it simple to download photos on to your computer and categorize them. …

a comparison shopper, not rich, loving this camera!, a busy person
I use this camera a lot. It has the best battery life on any digital camera I have ever used. I use the display exclusively and never use the viewfinder and I am only on my third set of batteries in 5 months. I take a lot of flash pictures. The color in the pictures is really great. It is a simple camera to operate. I recommend it to everyone. …

a techie
This is a small, easy to use camera. It has many tools on it to use for how ever you need to take that picture. The manual is a good thing to hang on to and READ. You can simply take pictures with this camera, but after reading the manual, you realize that you have purchased a lot more than you thought of in a camera. Good for beginners and…

not rich, pc-user, practical, Truthful, technically savvy
The Canon A550 is a great camera for still shots but not so good at comedy shots where you try to catch the subject unaware. It does come with great software for removing red-eye and catagorizing your photo collection. The battery life is OK and the viewfinder is excellent. — …
