Most HelpfulFirst off let me say that I do not know much about cameras other than how the picture looks at the end. With that said I can still tell you a good amount about this camera.
First the cons: It took me a while to get the hang of this camera. Although the time could have been shortened if I had read the directions, Im not one for them as most people arent. I might suggest doing so with this camera though. Also the program to download the pictures on to the computer is completely innefficient and not a quick program at all. It takes much longer than i would like edit and save the pictures than I would...
review »A year ago I took a trip and wanted a digital camera to take along. I read a lot of reviews, watched for sales and chose the Canon PowerShot A540, and am I glad I did! We have a Kodak at work, and I'm constantly trying to figure out how to run it...my Canon was easy to figure out right away (although I will agree with the reviewer who said, reading the manual helps). (c:
It feels good in the hand, has lots of features (different types of photo taking, videos, and so on) which are very accessible, and the GREATEST thing is it uses regular AA batteries! This was terrific for me because the trip...
I purchased the Canon Powershot A540 about two years ago to replace a different brand of camera that I had received for Christmas that I was not satisfied with. I got a good deal on it at the time, I thing about one hundred twenty dollars. I am sure it is a lot less expensive today as it is a four megapixel 4x optical zoom and today the cameras are up to about 10+ megapixels and way higher on the optical zoom. However, even though it is a little bit outdated maybe, it takes wonderful digital photographs. It has eleven different settings to take photographs and also has red-eye reduction,...
review »I got this camera as a gift last year for Christmas. It went through batteries pretty quickly so I got rechargeable ones, and they work great and last much longer. This camera works well for those "Kodak" moments, along with still shots and videos come out pretty clear and sharp too. It is a great product for the cost and seems to be durable enough. You don't have to be a pro to take pictures, I am an amateur, and it's a "snap" for me! Included with it are simple instructions for downloading pics to a pc.
Red eyes are a problem that I have noticed in using the camera, but they can be relatively...
review »I asked for a small digital camera last Christmas (2006), so that I wouldn't always have to bring my Rebel SLR digi with me when out and about with the kids. this is the one DH bought me. I love it. Takes great pictures, easy to use, small. We even lent it to MIL for a trip to Europe. she is very techno niave, and she got great shots. Granted, her granddaughters (preteens) were there to handle any tech issues! I had one repair issue (lens would not retract after taking pics) and Canon fixed it and sent it back as good as new - no problems at all.
I just wish it took the same format...
review »Picture Perfect! Love it. I researched digital cameras on the internet before purchasing. I wanted a good quality without having to pay top dollar. The choice kept coming back to the Canon A540. The price was super and when we bought our camera we even got a free 512MB memory card. Our adult children were impressed with the quality of the camera for pictures and "movie mode". Their first question to me was - "Do you know how to use this thing?" It's easy to use. The megapixels and optical zoom are high enough to be able to get good quality prints. We also invested in a...
