I got this camera as a gift last year for Christmas. It went through batteries pretty quickly so I got rechargeable ones, and they work great and last much longer. This camera works well for those "Kodak" moments, along with still shots and videos come out pretty clear and sharp too. It is a great product for the cost and seems to be durable enough. You don't have to be a pro to take pictures, I am an amateur, and it's a "snap" for me! Included with it are simple instructions for downloading pics to a pc.
Red eyes are a problem that I have noticed in using the camera, but they can be relatively easy to clean up with a photo-shop program on the computer. It's a bit bulky to carry in a purse, but fits nicely in hand. The flash can be a little slow in getting ready for a quick second shot.
Overall, I am pleased with my Canon A540 and would recommend it to any of my friends and family.
