The Canon Pixma MP470 is an all-in-one printer that is almost ridiculously easy to use. The hook-up took me only minutes to do and once the software was installed I was using it right away. I love the scanner / copier feature. This reduces the Catholic guilt that used to kick in whenever I would take stuff to work with me that I needed to copy. Now I can do it all at home and save time at confession.  :-) One of the best features is the LCD screen that flips up and pretty much just walks you right through whatever it is that you need to do with the printer. The instructions are clear and step-by-step. It's virtually impossible to goof it up if you can read. The only issue that I've had with this printer, and it's really more of an annoyance than an issue, is that about a month after buying it the printer started making sound during printing like the printer head was catching on the edge of the paper as it went back and forth. It still prints just fine, it just makes this sound that makes me think I'm going to get a messed up copy - but so far they always come out just fine. Overall, a very good value. I would recommend this to anyone.

After my marriage my co-workers asked me what would I like to receive as a gift. I told them that I would like to receive a printer because I had many many photographs and I wanted to print all of them. So they bought a Canon Pixma MP470 printer for me. At first side I love it - I like the result and it does what it has to do. This printer lets me quickly print beautiful photos and laser-quality text (and I can do it at home). I can scan and copy important documents, with results that are truer to your originals. I can print directly from memory cards1, digital cameras and camera phones2. All this performance comes in one compact, stylish machine that will enhance any office setting. All my scans have superb detail, thanks to the high resolution of up to 2400 x 4800 dpi. But it is too noisy and I need to buy new ink catridges pretty often (and they cost money). Yes, I would advice to buy it to my friends.

After going through several Hewlitt Packer printers I chose the Canon Pixma because it had all the options on it a regular "printer" user would need and it was decently priced. It scans, prints and copies with reasonably clear results even on plain paper. The only complaints I have are that it is slow printing and really noisy, although I recently found an option in the settings that says you can make it quieter, but I haven't tried that yet. For Christmas, I scanned in over 100 hand written family recipes, then bought nice cardstock and printed them all and put them in a book to give to family members as a gift. This little printer did a great job and you could barely tell the cards from the original recipes. Some of these recipes were written on brown paper bags and the colors and clarity were spot on! Because it prints so slow, it took F-O-R-E-V-E-R but they scanned in quickly and accurately and looked beautiful on the paper.

I bought this printer becuase my old printer just about died. The ink cartrige got stuck and smoke came out of the back so It was time for a new one. When I bought this one a hooked it up and for some reason it would not work. I looked over the manual for what seemed forever and did it all over again and installed it to the computer and yet it still would not print. I was forced to call the help line for assistance on this product and when I asked for help I got this guy from half way across the world who I could barly understand. After about an hour he got it to work and everything was okay. This printer overall can print great pictures and I would suggest it to everyone that needs a printer. My only problem was that it took so long to work.

Canon pixma MP470 All In One Printer is a great printer, it printed out some documents faster than the laser printer, and even a color picture is sharp and it works very nice. It came in efficient packaging. Itlooks nice all around with glossy plastic. It is easy to setup. The software was very easy to install and use. Wireless capability worked flawlessly. Its Interface integrated onto the printer makes it that much better because you can do everything on there instead of on the PC, hooked onto my router easily and all my computers in my network is able to use. The negative thing is that there is no multiple page feeder for the scanner. The price is unbelievable although I got mine for free from purchasing an apple laptop.

I have been using this printer about a year now and I guess this is once of the smart investments I have made so far. I have used almost three printer so far in my life but Canon pixma MP470 is the best. Its very flexible to use and the printer quality is so great. I havent had any problem with it so far. The stuff that it prints is also good with ver high resolution especialy the color printer part when I am printing my coupons it prints with great quality and the store cashiers hardly have problem in scanning the coupons. Like other printers that had previously, this one takes ver less time to start when you turn on initially. when you are out of paper or ink the system manual has a very clear way of identifying the problem in a layman's language. All in all it is the best printer and I advice everyone to go for Canon MP470.

I bought this all in one about 6 months ago after returning a similar all in one from HP. This Canon is so much better than the similar priced HP model. The Canon allows you to scan to PDF (if you want to scan a text doc, magazine article, etc.) with the press of a PDF button without buying extra software or installing anything extra. Quality of pictures is excellent with faithful reproduction of all the original colors from the actual picture. I havent seen any distortions so far. The cons : 1) It jams if I don't load the number of pages the feeder prefers, but after learning what the feeder handles best, that's the amount of pages I load and it works fine. 2) A little noisy (as others have noted in their reviews) 3) Costly cartridge replacements. Bottom line : Great price for this model with its features, speed of printing and ability to scan to PDF with a button!

We started seaching for a camera when we found out we were expecting our first child.  We wanted to capture every moment.  Our camera actually came with this printer.  We were pretty excited about having a printer to print the photos of our new little one!  It was easy to hook up and we were very pleased with the quality of the photos.  We had it for awhile before we needed to use the scanner, the scanner did not function well.  It was slow and of poor quality.  Our second disappointment came when we discovered how expensive the ink was and also how fast it was used up.  We have started to only print in black and white, and if we need photos we have them printed in a store.  It wasn't worth it to pay for the ink.  I don't know if other printers use cheaper ink or use less ink to print great pictures, but at this point we rarely use our Canon printer.  The next time we get a printer I plan on pricing out the ink as well as the printer.

My girlfriend and I bought this printer about a year and a half ago primarily for printing out school documents and reports. The print quality is decent for the price we paid for the printer. However, one thing that we really weren't to happy about was the life of the ink cartridges. The ink from both the color and the black and white cartridges tend to run out rather quickly and new replacement cartridges for this printer are rather expensive when compared to other printer cartridges. This makes a relatively cheap printer turn out to be rather expensive over the lifetime of the printer. This is considering the fact that we don't print out to many pictures and the ink still basically flows away like water. Pros: Good print quality, low printer price, never had a paper jam yet, excellent scan speed Cons: Very small print count per ink cartridge, very expensive ink cartridge refills, slow print speed   All in all, I wouldn't recommend this printer if you are looking for a cheap printer, while the initial price is cheap the cost of ink will get you in the long run.

Our Canon PIXMA MP470 is a very good printer. We have gotten great use out of it.  The copying is fast and efficient, the scanning is fast and paper jams are few and far between.  I do wish the cartridges were a little more affordable and lasted a bit longer, but the quality is very good.  Great workhorse!!!  I do wish we would have gotten one with a fax capability, otherwise we are happy with it.
