In the past decade or so, the all in one printer category has exploded. So much so that there aren't many printers that just print now a days. The MP460 is a mid range all in one that does a decent job all around. Scan quality is very good, as is print quality for regular black and white and color documents. Photos look a little washed out, even when they look just fine on your monitor. Also, the printer takes a while to get ready for a print after being off. Ink cost is about average, and there are many after market inks for this model which work just as well as Canon's own inks. The printer also doesn't have a fax option. There is a monitor included, great for changing settings and copying on the fly.

I aquired the Cannon MP460 when I purchased my IMAC because they had a special price plus a rebate offer. I have been extremely disapponted with this device given Cannon's lofty reputation. It is my 1st non-HP printing device ever & I'm sorry I decided to change brands;  won't be going back to a Cannon next time. It is clunky to set up and use with confusing or nonexistant "help" on both the device and documentation. It takes FOREVER to scan and uses up ink in a rapid fashion. There are times when it will not properly copy & the print quality is random at best. On the plus side, it has never jammed up, is easy to load the paper and ink cartridges, and is a flat panel vs roller feed. It also warms up fairly quickly and once it has the print information, it prints faily quickly. It is fairly quiet except for the paper feed and eject & displays the printing progress on my PC in the MP460 icon.

I bought the Canon MP460 printer perhaps 3-5 years ago and I'm GLAD i did!! I can scan things i draw and put it on the computer, I can copy stuff. Theres a virtual menu so i dont need to randomly click buttons and guess what I am doing. There are no limits to what you can do with this. The color is great even though the ink is pretty expensive it's well worth it. I am not one who will pay extra for something that i am not sure of but my friend had this printer so i had to get it. I've done numerous of things with the canon printer. It's ink cartlidge is extremely easy to use all you don is slip it off and loading paper in is not hard at all!!!
