After owning about a dozen of small "point-and-shot" cameras, i finally decided to buy DSLR camera. I am not a professional photographer, and am not planning to get into depth of digital photography, but since i got this one, little by little i started to learn small tricks of photography - because this camera is just asking you to improve. As per now I already got couple of filters ( started from simple UV filter), then got polarizing filter - it makes portraits to look much better, softer. I got a tripod, high-speed card, even Photoshop. If you get one of those - you will find yourself on the wasy to improving your photo skills and your enjoyment of photography will be taken on the next level. I own it for couple of years now, it got broken once - but Canon fixed it for free, and I spoke to them on the phone. They were very friendly, even gave me a few tips about photography - I told them that the only setting I use is 'full auto", and they explained me the next easiest one - just regulate how long the shutter is open - what allows to get better pictures of animals. Since that time, it did not brake again - and I am not planning to upgrade it for more expensive cannon - it is still fine for me and has tons of potential.

Now, I'm not a professional photographer but more like... someone who likes to have a nice camera to take pictures with! So you're going to get the view of someone who appreciates things from a normal dude perspective. I'll admit this camera is a bit spendy (well, it can be) and how sweet it is kinda depends on how nice of a lense you put with it. But really, it doesn't take much to get the potential out of this beauty. Even if you don't know what you're doing with aperture and shutter speed; just stick th thing on auto and FWOOM you're off to taking some sweet shots. It's strengths are going to be found in medium lighting; but throw anything at it! Fast movement, low lighting, BRIGHT lighting, time lapse, whatever you can think of and it'll do an amazing job capturing the moment and making it look "oh-so-pretty" Take another step forward and actually read the manual and you'll find yourself feeling like a professional photographer. One thing I don't care for is the button set up; but like anything it takes some getting used to. At some points I kinda wished it had voice command :P

We love this camera! The size is a little large for carrying around town but it takes such good quality pictures! There are so many settings that we have not figured out yet but that just means that it has so many options for getting your pictures just right. It captures the pictures much more quickly than the small point and click cameras so you really are able to better capture those baby moments that happen so fast and then they move. We have so many awesome quality pictures from using it. One thing that gets annoying but I think all SLR cameras might have this issue is that when you are using the flash a whole lot in a few minutes the camera will stall because the flash needs time. So we sometimes get slowed down by that but we have learned to deal with it. I try not to use the flash unless I have to. It is definitely a great investment and you will be glad that you have it! Definitely get one if you can!
