Fantastic DSLR for the Prosumer

The Canon 60 is the product of choice when you want to save some funds, yet have a close to professional DSLR. It is not a full frame camera, but that isn't a matter of concern with the proper lenses. The Canon 60D shoots 18+ megapixels, It only requires a bit of time to learn, and it can handle high ISO settings, thereby allowing for low light shootings minus the grainy part. Shooting RAW images turns out to make each images about 25 megs. The 25 megs are files full of data allowing the photographer to edit and turn images into the image with the look you want. The camera is tough but does have some minor issues with focusing at times, but with effort, it does perfect with images. Additionally, when using this camera for video, it automatically shuts off at 12 minutes of videoing. This is very annoying, especially when videoing a one hour lecture or anything of the sort. Though I have added two negative remarks, I would recommend this camera to anyone that wants to move forward with technology.

Before getting the Canon EOS 60D I was practicing photography on point and shoot digital cameras. I got the Canon 60D as a step up and for wanting more control over the pictures I'm taking. I also wanted to experiment with lenses. This is a great camera. This isn't a camera you should buy if you're looking to throw it in your purse for when you want to capture moments with your friends. This is a bulky camera. Does it have more settings than a point and shoot camera? No, not really. It has all the same settings. Honestly, the menus could be a little more user friendly. It took me forever to find the black and white picture setting. However, the main reason to choose this DSLR camera is for quality. Not just picture quality but the HD video quality. I know a lot of Independent Films that were shot on Canon cameras. The footage always looks great. I use this for stills photography on movie sets and I mostly enjoy it because it's great in low light situations and the picture quality is magnificent.

Canon 60D best Budget camera for professional photographer

So this camera is a prosumer camera basically a step up from the rebel series. At its low price is a very very good alternative. I would recommend this camera to any beginner over the rebel versions since this one is more robust and has more options such as a upper LCD screen where you can change settings easily without having to go into the menu to do so. I am a professional photographer and have owned many cameras before this one and I'm very acquainted at all the different specs and their differences. All I can say is that the swivel LCD screen is a big bonus as it helps when thrying to shoot at odd angles and I enjoy using for when I am shooting video of myself I can swivel it around and see myself in the screen while I record. The quality of the 1080p video is amazing specially if used with a 50mm 1.8 lens. This camera is a crop sensor camera so EF lenses will end up looking like a longer focal length than they are listed as but that is fine by me as zooms become super zooms. The photos were sharp and the color renditions were amazing. I shoot strictly in manual mode and in raw for the most detail possible. The auto focus is very fast and the Noise in Low light is very good I have shot at ISO of 3400+ and the images were still very usable with only slight grain anything under 800 ISO and the grain is none existent. So overall I recommend this camera as a keeper and definitely a buy for a beginner photographer. Only thing is that is smaller than the older XXD models so I suggest buying a grip for it to feel bigger for people with bigger hands.

IIt has become a part of me!

I LOVE my canon 60d. I began amateur photography about 5 years ago and my first camera was a canon xsi. I love the canon line of products and chose to upgrade to the 60d about a year ago. After shooting everything from my children at home to weddings, I can honestly say that the 60d is an amazing piece of equipment. I absolutely love the fact that it shoots video. I have a video camera, but I hate having to drag it out of my bag when I just want to capture a few minutes of an event. With the 60d, I can just switch it over to video mode and the go right back to snapping shots. I use my 60d on a daily basis and it has become a part of me. I would recommend this camera to anyone who is just starting out or who just has basic knowledge of DSLRs. It is a great beginner camera and has a decent price tag to boot!

Tried it! Like it! Great Camera for stills and video.

Although I didn't get to do much with the camera, I did enough to know that I would like to have one! The time to recover was so fast I couldn't push the button any faster. The clarity of the stills is super. I took quite a few pictures and the battery it didn't use much energy.

Amazing!

I just got this camera as an early birthday and Christmas present to myself. It is absolutely amazing! It is fast and takes great pictures. Some downsides are it is heavier than I would like, but I can live with that, and it is bigger than I am used to because I have very small hands.

This camera is very versatle, and I find it to be very useful.

I really like this camera a lot. It has features that I always said I didn't need, like fairly high res video, and live view through the lcd display, but I have found them to be fun to play with. Image Quality I am not sure if this is real or not,, but it seems to me that my percentage of dead on sharp focus pictures has increased significantly. Durability I haven't had it long enough to measure it's longevity, but it seems well built in the tradition of all of Canons mid to upper line cameras. It doesn't feel as solid to me as my older 20d and 40d did, but the weight reduction is a great thing. Battery Life The battery life is very good provided you don't use the live view feature extensively. Portability It is somewhat lighter than past models I have purchased. It still seems to be a well built piece of gear.

Canon EOS 60D DSLR: Take me home!

5

"Take me home!" is what this camera screamed to me when I was shopping to replace my high-end point and shoot. Shortly before Christmas, my older Canon broke. I loved that camera and was so comfortable with it. I started looking on photo sights at digital photographs that I enjoyed and often times the camera that took those pictures was the Canon EOS 60D. Jumping into the DSLR world is not for the faint of heart. There are so many options, a variety of lens choices and the intimidation of learning to use a camera this complicated to its full potential. The Canon line of products including their lenses cannot be beat in my opinon. They do an excellent job of making quality products affordable for those willing to take the next step in their hobby or budding photography career. This camera is the perfect next step for those wanting to leave the point and shoot world for a DSLR but not take on the professional line of Canon cameras. It is relatively easy to use right out of the box. The layout of the buttons and the variety of settings can be intimidating at first but are very user-friendly when you take the time to learn how to use the camera. It is also setup in a way that allows you to start in Auto mode, use pre-set modes that give you more creativity and control before moving into full-manual or other settings that require more knowlege to get their full benefit. I have loved this camera from the very beginning. I have used it to shoot family events, record important moments in my child's life, trips and vacations that we have taken and even portraits for family and friends. I love this camera and will own it for a long time to come.

I'm in love with the 60D!

I bought this camera as my first DSLR. I researched it for many months. My primary reason for purchasing it was the swivel screen. As someone who wears glasses the majority of the time, I sometimes prefer to shoot in live view mode. Happily with this camera the penta prism view finder is bigger enough that I can hold the camera off my glasses and still get a great view of what I'm shooting. Yes, it has a plastic body and not the magnesium alloy body of its predecessor, the 50D. It feels better (to me) that the T2i did, maybe because its weighter. I could have gone with the new T3i but I wanted something heavier/sturdier and with more bells and whistles. The sensor is the same for the 7D/60D/T2i and T3i but I split the difference and went for the middle range (the 60D). I love it. Its a major upgrade for me from my point and shoots. The shots I've taken, even in auto mode are amazing. I can get shots indoors with higher ISOs and much better quality than I ever could on my smaller cameras. I just wish I had gone the DSLR route sooner
