This is a wonderful camera and well worth its price tag. I would have expected to pay much more for this camera. My primary usage has been photographing and videotaping my children as well as nature photography.

The 15.1 megapixels allows close to professional cameras and it is also very valuable when you want to make large prints or zoom in to a small object in your photo editing software.

It feels great in your hands and I particularly like that it powers up in less than a second and fires rapidly.

This camera has a great automatic settings that allows it to take fantastic photos in the hands of a beginner as well as the ability to adjust all the various photogarphic elements in manual mode for the more advanced

Even better is that this camera has a video mode that is HD and absolutly stunned me. I had an expensive digital video recorder that could take very low quality pictures and the video was not impressive at all. While this camera takes amazing photos AND video. I was simply amazed at the video quality. This camera can do both beautifully.

This has got to be the best camera in its price range and I highly recommend to anyone looking for a DSLR camera

Pros.: Best camera for start level. Have been using it more than 1 year and have not had any serious complaints. What particularly pleased with: a good matrix, a good white balance, ISO, many manual settings, and of course video.

Cons.: The only drawback, built-in flash can emerge from failure, it happened with my colleagues.

To unleash the full potential of this camera, you should use a high-class lens.

Great entry level camera!

By

Comments about Canon - EOS 500D / Digital Rebel T1i Digital Camera with 18-55mm lens:

My daughter uses this for her HS Yearbook class at school, and she's brought it home several times when she needed to take it to an after-school or weekend event. I've seen her photos, and they're really good. Of course, she uses it as a point-and-shoot, w/ only automatic functions.

If you are looking for a good entry-level DSLR, this is a nice place to start, especially if you can get it at a low price.

Comments about Canon - EOS 500D / Digital Rebel T1i Digital Camera with 18-55mm lens:

My husband bought me this camera after hearing me complain about not getting great pictures of our children. This camera may not be top of the line professional but it has taken amazing photos that look like a professional took them.

My Canon Experience

By

from Weatherford, TX

Comments about Canon - EOS 500D / Digital Rebel T1i Digital Camera with 18-55mm lens:

I bought a Canon EOS Rebel T1i a couple months ago and I LOVE it! It looks intimidating because of it's size, but after you read the manual, even if you start off on Auto Mode, you get great pictures. I'm always getting compliments on my photos now. It does take some figuring out to know how to change the White Balance and to change the lens settings for manual or auto. But once you get it into the settings you prefer, it's simple to just point and click.

Canon T1i

By

from Elkhart, IN

Comments about Canon - EOS 500D / Digital Rebel T1i Digital Camera with 18-55mm lens:

We absolutely love this camera! We were torn from spending the money and comparing it to the D. Because we would be doing football and golf shots/movies, the T1i won out and boy was it the best investment we ever made! We had a 35mm Canon Rebel that we still love but as film is getting harder to come by, made the switch to digital. You won't go wrong, you get what you paid for. We have had this for over 6 months and we are still learnging. We let someone borrow it for a weekend and they were sold from the point & shoot! They bought this camera a week ago! <3 Canon

Nice camera

By

from Pullman, WA

Comments about Canon - EOS 500D / Digital Rebel T1i Digital Camera with 18-55mm lens:

Pros: 1. Huge, Enormous, Gigantic lcd viewer. Truly awesome resolution for checking your shots right away. 2. Weight: feels pretty light to me. 3. Black and white option. nifty. avoid post production conversion 4. Easy to use, just pull it out of the box and start playing. (my two and a half year old can hold it and take a picture on auto) 5. This kinda goes along with number 1, but the manual setting numbers show on the lcd (that is huge) and they are big, so you can reference them quickly and accurately. i actually prefer this over the tiny screen above the shutter button on the 50d. Cons: (i had to think hard on this one) 1. It's a bit pricey. I am just being honest. for someone who takes pics of their baby and dog primarily...I would perhaps recommend a less expensive Canon DSLR like the XTi or other with a more expensive lens. 2. The kit lens. Not my favorite. I bought it because I thought with the Image Stabilization that it would be better but it is a bit slow in focusing, tends to get kinda iffy about where it is focusing sometimes. (you can have the red blinking light all lined up and STILL not be in focus). Also, it is not great for low light situations. All of that said, it is an awesome lens for outside on a sunny day. 3. This one is actually my own fault. 15 mega pixal photos? ARE ENORMOUS! They are like 6 meg apiece and that means you have to do some post production work shrinking them to send them to grandparents and friends. and uploading to photo sharing sites like Shutterfly? takes a while. plan to plug in and walk away for some time if you have more than about 20 pics.

Great camera, still learning

By

from Staten Island, NY

Comments about Canon - EOS 500D / Digital Rebel T1i Digital Camera with 18-55mm lens:

This is my first (very expensive) step into the pro-sumer line of cameras from my old point and shoots (although I do own a film slr camera, although i don't use it anymore because of the hassle of developing film). This camera takes beautiful pictures, although I don't know how to use a lot of the functions well yet. I am trying to learn with tutorials and reading online adn reading through the user guide though. This camera is heavy, so I don't always take it to every single event, especially if I'm going to have to be moving or hiking a lot. Those times are still great times to use the old point and shoot. Ultimately, its up to you when you use it what you use it on. Beautiful pictures await you if you can pay the price.

Canon EOS Digital Rebel T1I with 18-55mm lens- a great camera

By

from Springboro, OH

Comments about Canon - EOS 500D / Digital Rebel T1i Digital Camera with 18-55mm lens:

This is an ideal camera for those who are interested in entering the digital single lens reflex world. The sensor in this camera is absolutely huge, which means you will get nice detail in your photos. Even at high ISO like 800 I don't see a whole lot of noise, and the noise you do get doesn't look bad at all. The only thing I don't like about it is that there is no exposure compensation dail. This would be a nice feature to have as I need to squish my hand under my nose in order to use the exposure compensation button that it has instead. This camera will not work the best for you if you want to use it in very diverse lighting situations in a short amount of time, but it is great for learning the craft with. The lens isn't anything special. The aperture doesn't get wide enough to afford interesting DOF, nor does it let enough light in, so if you plan on shooting in low light situations you should by a different lens, like the 50mm f1.8

the t1i is a lovely camera but lacks video features

By

from Davis, CA

Comments about Canon - EOS 500D / Digital Rebel T1i Digital Camera with 18-55mm lens:

I have had this camera for about 6 months and it has allowed me to capture beautiful images and video. This camera is really the best bang for your buck. DSLRs are great cameras but you must always keep in mind that lens cost money. If you ever decide you need better lenses or different lens to suite your needs, they will cost you! Only switch to a DSLR if you are willing to pay for the camera and any additional lens you may need. If you want the best you have to pay for it. This is the cheapest camera that will allow you to shoot full HD video and i bough this camera mainly because of that. However, if your a avid video producer, you will find that this camera lacks manual control over its video function and it sets the settings for you automatically. this often gets annoying and hinders you form filming correctly in certain situations. If you are just into taking photos, then this camera is the perfect budget camera.

The Canon EOS Rebel is a Great Camera

By

from Woodridge, IL

Comments about Canon - EOS 500D / Digital Rebel T1i Digital Camera with 18-55mm lens:

While I don't know much about photography, this has been a great camera for my husband and me so far. We've had it for several months and have put it to good use on many occasions. While I do not know a lot about the technicalities of taking pictures, the pictures look as if I do. We leave it on auto-focus and have played around a bit with some of the features, and the camera seems to know what to do on its own. This is definitely a camera that is worth the investment so that you can get good pictures of special events/moments. We decided to buy this after I tried to take pictures at my husband's graduation with my small Sony camera and didn't get one good one! Now this one takes great pictures, and I've gotten some great memories captured. I definitely need to consult the manual for a lot of information about how to use the camera, but I'm not sure that other brands would be more user-friendly. Overall, I'm very happy with the camera and likely just need to get a bit more familiar with it.
