I bought the first Cannon EOS400/Rebel XTi, for my daughter. She is taking a photographic course in College. Gee did I got jealous, this is a superb camera; lightweight, easy to use from the box, has lots of utilities only read carefully, almost no delay it has all and at a great price. So I went and bought mine. My relation with digital cameras wasn't improving until this one. I was using a Pentax F-1 with a couple of lenses and some pocket digital cameras in some occasions. But now I think there's no turn back, this camera is so easy to use from the box out, and pictures are great believe me, really great. It comes with a new dust removal system with anti-static surface coatings, and the viewfinder is 2.5" big, that turns off when your eye proximity just below comprises your shot.
For around $900., little more or less, you buy the kit with its lens of 18-55mm. That's a great value for a great SLR digital camera. The more demanding photographers maybe will want to buy an extra lens, the one that has a little more zoom power. But I would recommend you to get the kit with the lens and use it for a while and then decide. This is a great value in the lower end of digital SLR's, and it even works better that more expensive products. Buy it; you will never repent of doing, what I considered, a great deal.
