i have use many canon cameras and this camera is one of the best masterpiece from canon. in addition this camera is the best in its class. this camera has a lot of features that is very easy to handle for amateur and beginner photographer. the best feature that i found in this camera is the auto ISO feature. This feature is like committing heresy for a supposed Pro, wanting any AUTO features. i shoot a lot of picture with this camera and the pictures are very awesome. picture quality is very sharp, clear and vibrant color. you should buy this, it is very worthy. the lcd for this camera is wide about 2.5 inch, so it is very handy for you to review the picture that you have taken. the only bad thing about this camera is the length of its battery didn't last long. from my experience it only last for 250 images.

I love my Canon EOS 30D!

I got this as a gift from my aunt who is a photographer. She just got a new camera, and had no use for this one anymore. After recieving this I became very interested in photography! I am actually currently working on becoming a professional Sport's Photographer. Last year, I took the Soccer picture's for the school yearbook and the page was AMAZING because of the awesome pictures this camera takes! It easy enough that a beginner can use it, but advanced enough that pro's still use it! I think it's an amazing little camera. My photography teacher even wanted it for herself! Whether you're a beginner or a pro, this is the camera for you. It's simply amazing, and I couldn't be more happy with it!

I heart my Canon 30D

I have had this camera for four years and I've loved it from the very first moment. I am a smallish woman and it fits well in my hands. I wouldn't say that it is easy to learn if you're used to a point and shoot camera like I was, but if I can learn to use it to its full potential anybody can. I have never used it on Auto, so I can't say if it would still be worth the price to only use it like that. There are newer models out now that kick my 30D's booty in some aspects (mainly noise at high ISOs) and I'd love to upgrade someday, but this does the trick for me for now and I'll never go back to only having a point and shoot. I am not a professional photographer, but I have no doubt that a talented person could use this to take professional pictures without a problem. A few decent lenses would be all that's needed. I have seriously used and abused this camera taking pictures of my family. It has been on more that a few beaches and I usually end up lugging it around in my diaper bag, so it has not received much special treatment and it is holding up very well.

Used to be a great camera

I have owned the canon 30d for several years now. I got it new with a 55mm lens kit. the first couple years the camera took excellent photographs. The design is very good in this camera and the battery life is also pretty good (I am not a heavy user of flash tho) The user interface is easy to navigate and the camera is packed with options and features. It is a good size for a travel trip but it was also advanced enough to handle my wedding shoots. About a year ago, the camera began having trouble and issues with auto focus. In lower light settings, it is almost impossible for the auto focus to work correctly, resulting in slightly out of focus images if you rely on the auto focus. I thought it was perhaps an issue with the lens, so I replaced that with a new lens. The issued remained. After reading multiple forums online, I found out the autofocus issue is a common complaint with this camera. After a couple years tho, it is not economically feasible to spend all this money to repair an old model. This camera used to be great for all my multiple purposes but now it sits on the shelf or comes as an emergency spare on shoots using manual focus mode, since it still works great that way.

Love this camera!  I am not at all tech savvy but I always have the best pictures when I use this camera.  My husband uses it the most and gets the most amazing pictures of our kids in their sporting events.  He loves the ability to get an action sequence with the rapid shutter speed.  He can catch the kids in action and show them what they need to improve on or just get that picture that we used to miss!  The battery life on the camera is also excellent and it is easy to recharge.  Until recently we used only the lens that came with the camera and found that to be adequate.  We have purchased a bigger lens and are enjoying getting some of those far away pictures.  This camera is great for taking wild life photos also.  We have a lot of birds in our backyard and I have gotten awesome pictures of the hummingbirds and blue birds as they feed at the feeders.  I would highly recommend this camera to anyone in the market!

The 30D is made for the novice to use, with options the pros use

I am not a camera guy, but I wanted a good camera and I knew Canon was a great company.  A point and shoot would be easy, but I wanted the versatility to try different things and customize my exposures, so I figured I had to go SLR.  I got my Canon and the autofocus, and the auto exposure control options let me use it right out of the box.  My pictures were awesome.  I read the handbook to know how to change settings for things like fast motion (sports), and those pictures came out really cool.  I've read the manual, as well as picked up a book on SLR cameras and have started trying new things with the custom exposure settings.  It is a really fun toy for me.  I also spent a little extra on some of the stabilization lenses and they were a great investment in my toy.  I would buy this thing again for sure.

If you are wanting professional photographs...this is the camera

This camera is a dream camera.  You are guaranteed beautiful shots everytime you pull it out.  It doesn't take time to learn what all this camera can do.  It is a heavy camera, so it is not one you can throw in your purse, however you have the camera you need take the shot you see.  This camera has an adjustable and/or interchangeable lense, so you can take shots further off than normal.  You can also change out the flash for photographs taken further away.  This camera is versitile and you can spend as much as you can always upgrade flash and lense.  Buy this one and you won't be sorry.

Great pictures

I purchased the Canon 30D almost a year ago and use it almost everyday.  This is a great mid-priced SLR that will make you happy you bought it.   If you are just getting started the auto feature produces sharp pictures.  If you are a little more savvy the programmable settings are easy to understand and use. The auto focus is quick even in low light.  Information in the viewfinder helps to change settings on the fly to quickly compose for changes in light or speed.  If you are more familiar with SLR use there are many features to use and save your own settings.  The pop up flash is very powerful - in programmable features you can adjust the power of the flash.  After having several SLR style cameras I wanted the ability to change lenses (when I can afford them).  My photography includes live theatre, portrait, groups and nature.  The only problem I have encountered is the pop-up flash gets stuck.  This can be overcome with lifting as it is to come up - until I can get this fixed. I consider myself an armature that is always willing to learn.
